The expansion set will cost 40$ or 40€, which is a whopping 67% of the price of the basic game at launch.
Despite the artificial hype over the new Spiritborn class, I can detect only very little new content for the 67% costs of the expansion compared to the basic game. With the expansion set the content of the basic game will be expanded only as follows:
*5 classes → 6 classes [+1 new class / 20% new classes]
*5 acts → 6 acts [+1 new act / 20% new acts]
*5 overworld areas → 6 overworld areas [+1 new overworld area / 20% new overworld areas]
*5 bosses → 6 bosses [+1 new boss / 20% new bosses]
*24 skills per class → 25 skills per class [+1 ew skill / 4% new skills]
So we get only 20 % new content for 67 % of the price compared to the basic game.
Despite the efficient and well known Blizzard Marketing Machine, this new content is therefore more than 3 times more expensive than the already existent content at launch.
The Expansion Set is therefore WAY overpriced. The price is simply not acceptable for so little new content. The price needs tp be reduced to 15$ or 15€ at most! The price has to reflect the amount of new content compared to the basic game.
Despite all the marketing hype about the Expansion Set, its price is not justified at all!

just like it has been said so many times. dont purchase it then, or wait for a sale.
you are hopefully an adult, that is able to decide what to do with his money.
considering the price structure of previous blizzard expansions, 40 bucks isnt anything special. But as i said, if you feel it doesnt provide you enough, you know what to do.

Most people are waiting for it to go on sale. I’m not going to lie, if you waited to buy the base game until it was on sale you are one smart mofo.

i do have 2 friends that want to wait a little, ideally to a sale for sure. smart decision for sure, especially if one is unsure if he’ll like the game.

Nyurei, you always are arguing AGAINST what someone suggests here and you always argue in line with Blizzard.
My post clearly adresses the greed of Blizzard and the unacceptable price of the Expansion Set at launch and not somewhere a year in the future or so. I clearly criticize Blizzard for its prizing which seems unfair. While of course every player can decide whether to buy the expansion set or not, it is clear that a lot of players will pay too much for the little new content they get. They are lured into buying a way overprized product by falling for the Marketing Machine Blizzard has installed around it. The very little new content is marketed as “BIG” although it is very little. I feel sad for everyone who pays 40$ or 40€ for so little. 40$ or 40€ is rather the prize of a complete new game on the market than for so little new content to an already existing game.
It is simply not a fair move by Blizzard to set the prize at a whopping 40$ or 40€.

@OP:
My hope is that they will also improve the base game content, improving old areas, systems, skills, mechanics, UI and effects, so it will also by a “vanilla 2.0”. Only game developers know how much work it takes. RoS in D3 transformed D3 in a fundamental way, making that game much better.

you can suggest blizzard to change their prices all you want. Please make sure to tell us how that will work out for you. im sure theyll listen to your deep price analyses.
I actually told you what to do, if you want to make a change.
you said it yourself - you consider the price unacceptable. you know what to do then.
that will happen, no matter if you purchase the expansion or not. they cleary stated that the base game will receive changes, and updates in the future.

Cannot imagine buying this xpac with the history of D4 thus far, despite S4 being overwhelmingly better. Wait for the streamers and schmucks to beta-test it for you, missing a season simply does not matter.
The information on PoE 3.25 released today seems to add more content alone than the expansion for D4 does, with PoE2 Beta on the horizon… which are both free. /shrug

I don’t really care about it being on sale…just that what I pay is close to value in what is being delivered.
If someone I trust says it is totally worth the $40-$90, then sure I would get it.
But from the effort I have seen over the past year, I remain skeptical.

Advice - Don’t bother engaing.
They got you within 90-120 seconds of you posting.
Got another poster within 60 seconds of making a post moments ago.
This pattern is repeated endlessly with them and a few others.
Self-appointed forum police(read: Hall monitors) who will defend and repeat the same old rhetoric incessantly, determinedly and devotedly.
They’re possibly all slightly unhinged in some way and they follow this narrative. It’s weird.
Just discuss (with xyz) at your own risk and use discretion to determine who has real input and genuine feedback and who sticks to a script.
Just be kind. We never know what someones reality is. Who knows? Could be an AI and our overlord some day lol.

how exactly am i defending anything when im saying that he should just not buy the expansion. dont make yourself ridiculous. Everyone decides for himself what hes willing to pay. If you dont consider 40 bucks a fair price, speak with your wallet.
However, if we are talking facts. blizzard didnt change the prices for diablo expansions in over 20 years. #Diablo2LoD
i know you dont like facts tho, hence why i wont go deeper.

The greed of Blizzard is not only visible by the way overprized expansion set, but also by the fact that they sell cosmetic skins for much real money, e. g. a new skin for a horse for 69.99$ or 69.99€ is ridiculous.
Many people fell for Blizzard’s Marketing Machine at the launch of Diablo 4, which was an incomplete game at launch with many bugs and a lot of frustration for players. Therefore the number of players went down dramatically right after the launch and stayed on an extremely low level.
And now the new content of the Expansion Set is so little and is puffed up extremely by this nasty Marketing Machine.

oh, the cosmetic shop for sure is pricey. i doubt anyone disagrees there, even when we consider the horse you refer to was a platinum bundle. still pricey.
tho im not sure what exactly that has to do with an absolutely normal expansion price.

Don’t want it, Don’t buy it.
You don’t have to try and justify why you are not buying it.

Big Mac menu, 35$. 15mins.
Trip to cinema with popcorn, 55$ 2 hours.
D4, 90$, over 1000 hours.
So if i get even 6-10 hours out of expansion, i’m getting value for my money.
But you know the saying:
“Ones mans trash, another mans treasure.
So it’s only you who can decide to buy it or not. If you think it’s not worth it, then it’s not worth it!
Stay your ground and vote with your wallet, eh?

I doubt there is any data that backs this claim.
But since Christmas is just a few months away from the October release, it makes sense that they might put it on sale fairly quickly. Just not sure I have the patience to wait that long, but I will try.
Thank goodness that neither the male nor female Spiritborn is like the eyesore Druids. Otherwise, even if Blizzard paid me $40, I wouldn’t bother to play, let alone pre-purchase it.
