Running tier 34 nightmares no problem, keep getting one shotted in tier 4 Helltides… I just die full health to nothing same looking group of mobs i have killed over and over. Nothing is exploding there seems to be no ground effects going on… Does anyone else have this problem? Only happening in Helltides.

Indeed. My favorite part about helltides as a sorc is when I open a chest and then meteors start falling, but when I click my horse doesn’t move and I get one shotted by them and lose half my shards. Super fun gameplay.
As a rogue with a little defense stats i can bath in the meteor storm
Imagine having a shako. You would be able to catch every meteor w/o dying once giggling while doing that.
I am used to monster hunter and ultima online “outlands”
Part of the learning curve is learning mob windups before they do a special move or a visual when something will kill you like “the floor is lava your going to be on fire”
At times in d4 i do not see anything that would explain why my max defense barb instant died.
Like there is no visual queue at all just the death (xbox)
Might be that sometimes xbox visuals get blurred out when chaotic…. Or it might be a bug that sometimes there are 0 visuals of what is killing u in 1s

I never get 1 shot blinked, but I have had times where I space out and get real close fast.
There are a few mobs in there that just do abnormally large dmg spikes. The little bugs that shoot the trails of smaller green bugs can add up to do massive dmg if you are not on the move. The Soul Burners or whatever they are called (Demon Batmen) also do crazy spike dmg…
Most of the mobs hit like wet noodles, but if you get lazy and try to face roll… it can end poorly.
Now to your point of being 1 shot by stuff you don’t think should… I have had this happen to me in Nightmare Dungeons a few times… run in, start attacking POOF 1 shot… what ticks me off is if I run back in there and do the same thing I just did… suddenly i’m fine and nothing 1 shots me…
So it does feel at times like random dmg just gets multiplied and 1 shots you some how. There is a reason we don’t have a combat log to track actions… it would show us how incredibly wonky the math is in this game currently.
Faced a strange elite at 21 (as long as the equipment does not let you go higher).
Task for the “Favorites”, but it was not a favorite. Strange attacks and double casting of poison (large and small puddles), apparently a damage increase affix, ignoring defense indicators, or a faulty elemental defense. The game is full of bugs (in particular the mob level scaling system).
Most of my deaths came from…myself!

Same suicide bug or something new? I only noticed suicide bug in Helltides.
These mobs have a passive attack affix of 100% vulnerability, just like succubus and cult mages. The only protection is unstoppable and a barrier. Unstoppable nullifies vulnerability, barrier absorbs the effect of vulnerability, vulnerability only affects HP.
I will add. Succubi have homing attacks and sometimes stack on top of each other. Such a hybrid projectile is not always noticeable, and if 2 or 3 arrives, it can one-shot.
I try to make a mental note of kill orders when I run into rooms based on my experience with these mob types.
Overall I can avoid death to stupid if I take a mental note of mob types when I enter a new room. If I go all crazy mode and stop tracking the room I end up in situations that are less then ideal.
I am not sure if my build is just strong, or if I have decent gear, or If I am just good at Rogue… but overall I can take mobs 10 levels higher then me in Nightmare dungeons at 73 and hold my own. If I do die, it is to the Affix on the key 99.9% of the time and not the mobs honestly.
Got a one shot yesterday. Poison puddle. From a mage cultist, they have an underfoot attack that is almost impossible to dodge. In addition, the attack itself gives 100% vulnerability. This is clearly a mechanical problem. The poison does not work properly, for some reason it gives crits (although this is a zone of periodic damage), not to mention the huge damage and frequency of operation. Well, I think this bug is already known to everyone except developers.
Exactly. These helltide meteors are real cancer. I dont know who thought these would be a good idea. I dont die to monsters, only to stupid random meteors spawning when I am looking at the map for a chest or to return to the whisper tree (and I am damn quick at it because I have been killed by the stupid meteors so often). They add NOTHING to the game, they are just dumb design. Remove them ffs!

Ohh theres that cool event pillars that rotates after activation spamming fire lances and later all the good stuff + free meteors in the tiny circle.
Helltides… never dissapoint
Btw if you have a bit of resistances/ damage reduction you can use this events to kill 200 monsters before the big demons arrives (seasonal achievment)

They make you die, so you have to join the next helltide. They also serve as anti AFK measure. On top of that they also serve as comedy when you witness someone get splatted.
Pretty clear it’s b/c new to the forum.
