Hello!
I purchased the game on PS5 and was able to play couch co-op with my son during the server slam. I expect this will work when the game launches as well. However, I’m curious if my son will be able to play the game on my PS5 when I’m not around.
For instance, if I buy a copy of God of War: Ragnarok, my son can play the game on his profile solo. Will the same be true for D4? Can one purchased copy be used by multiple profiles on a single console?
Thanks!

I believe that since the profile is tied to a battlenet account and the game is also tied to the battlenet account, you would likely need two copies if you both wanted to play solo on the PS5. However, I’m not positive.

If this is true, resell value of a physical copy is zero…
I hope this isn’t the case.
I think his son will be able to play on his own PS5 profile, he just needs to create a new blizzard profile for his son and link the two

Even tho this is account bounded I still think any of your family members can boot the game and play solo just as any other ps 5 games. As long as the console is set to your primary console, you brought the digital copy and they all have their own free battle.net account. I can not 100% confirm this will work at launch. But I played both 2 beta weekends and the server slam with my wife. I brought the game and she does not have it. I used her account to boot the game during the first beta, and I joined as player 2 after game starts. And that early beta was only available for people who pre ordered the deluxe or ultimate edition game. So I think that is a sign the the game would work the same at lunch.
However I’m sure other players will not get the battle pass even if you brought the ultimate edition, they will have to buy it separately. There might be a slight chance, if they are generous enough to let other players get the bouns content like what they did with Diablo 3. But please do not get your hopes up.

you really don’t know as much as you think you do
PS5 has gameshare which will give the license to every PSN account logged into the same PS5. This isn’t something Blizzard can legally circumvent, Sony sets the terms for licenses sold on their store and gameshare on the same console is 100% supported by Sony.

Its almost like I said I dont know for sure
Should be able to.
If they don’t allow it, he can log in both your accounts as couch coop, and your character stays in town while he goes out to play.
Not all games follow that rule… even with sony.
Example is Elder Scrolls Online. Each account is treated separately even when on the same console. So lets say you bought the latest chapter in ESO it wouldn’t work with gameshare. DCUO is also the same way.
Blizzard hasn’t said ya or nay if things like gameshare will be supported or not. I will say that the pre order for diablo 4 download poped up on our other xbox account that is gameshared. So thats a good sign in could be supported.
On console couch co-op, both characters share the same screen. This means that where 1 goes, the other does too.
