World of Warcraft just announced getting a one-press button that will do your DPS and rotations. That got me thinking… Diablo 4 needs one too!
Diablo 4 is more casual than WoW is by a long shot, and this DPS button is literally tailored for casual players that can’t or don’t want to learn their skills. The one-press button does everything for you, including using AoE skills vs groups, and single target vs single target.
Since d4 is more casual than wow they should make it so the game plays for you and you can press a button to make it STOP so you can make a small change if needed. That seems more casual than having to spam a button. This is how a lot of d3 players played from what I’ve been told.
Exactly. It’s optional. For players that don’t want to use it, they don’t need to. But for those players that have difficulty using their skill rotations, it’s a good way to improve their experience learning and playing Diablo 4.
The problem with that is if it’s more efficient players are going to use it anyway, even if they don’t want to.
Case in point, meta builds. People might not like them, but most gravitate towards them because they’re just more efficient at what they do. In the extreme case of say, auto combat, everyone would be doing that. I think it’s overall more healthy for the game if there’s still ways of skill expression over ease of use
You just named a Druid and Barbarian. What if they want to play Rogue or Sorceress? Or they don’t want to play a one button combat build, but a Death Trap or Dance of Knives Rogue, etc.
Then you’re going to have to settle for pressing more than one button. All I’m saying is if you really really really want that, the option is available.
Like I said, WoW added a feature so you don’t have to press more than one button. They have a LOT more skills active than in Diablo 4 with cool downs and min-maxing DPS for Raid requirements, etc. WoW is the farthest thing you can get from casual but Blizzard literally added a button that does all that for you. I think Diablo 4 can have that too.
And in reality, even without my suggestion, someone at Blizzard is probably already working on designing or implementing it for Diablo since teams do share ideas and such between games.
WoW had these back when I played before Mists. They were simply macros, and you could even make them yourself. It’s absolutely nothing new to any serious player.
Watched part of the video. For one they haven’t implemented it yet, and two I mean just look at asmon’s reaction. He thinks the change is horrible, and honestly I agree with him having played WoW before.
Hypothetically even if this is implemented into WoW it will never be a one button game. You still have buffs, defensive abilities, and if you’re going for optimal DPS, timing burst windows with party buffs / boss phases. There’s also AoE vs single target to consider, which I doubt the one button thing will be able to differentiate between which is better.
So all in all, two very different things and I still think it’s a bad idea.
Yes, Diablo also had macros and scripts too. But Blizzard is making it official by adding the add-on as a real part of the game to replace the third party add-on.
Diablo 4 does not need a 1-button rotation. Sorry, it just doesn’t. You only need to press a total of 4 buttons and use your mouse. Even less if you play a class with minion builds.
