Once the honeymoon phase wears off.. you notice 'it' immediately

tldr, I really like the gameplay, I could farm overworld ALL day, for years, it sure beats spamming rifts, grifts, & bounties, or cbaal/baal runs.

100% agree with you on this.

I think I finally hit the end of the honeymoon phase for me. Hit WT3 on my barb and my character is FINALLY starting to come online but I still have some massive issues with single target, feeling the pain points on how Barb is so gear dependent and I cant even really start to get my gear setup until I start getting the highest tier gear to drop or else I will just constantly get weaker and weaker.

Part of me wants to just reroll and try another class but then the same alt character problems from WoW comes into the play. Sure D4 is not super anti alt however the renown system does not help. Iv got all of the pre WT3 renown unlocked on my barb so the account wide stuff transfers over great. However for the post WT3 renown if I do roll a new character Im forced to either wrap up the renown system on my barb or redo the whole thing on my next character. Which then makes me think “What if I don’t enjoy this character as well once I push it to WT3”

Same could be said for the game we have now.

The Gamer Cycle for 25-40y.o.

Find a New game.
Play it.
Get bored after 10 hours, because youve played 100 other games of the same genra.
Install a diff game from your library.
Launch it, close it, uninstall it.
Stare at games for 30m to an hour.
Install something else.
Launch it, close it, uninstall it.

Rinse repeat this process, sometimes shuffling the steps order.

oh and the last step is installing the original ‘new’ game, 3 months to a year after its purchase, and finally play it.

D3 was dead in the water because it was going up against another ARPG that was constantly adding new content every 3 months.

Had D3 (RoS) ran seasons where they added new content like PoE it very well could have put up a fight and even with the lackluster seasons it still managed to retain a great amount of players.

Don’t need to wait for the honeymoon period at all. Anyone with two functioning eyes and a piece of a working brain knows this game is straight garbage. Bullet sponges, horrible loot RNG, terrain and physics issues in combat, rubberbanding, fps drops, network drops, stupid gem rolls now, resource starvation…but the shill clowns that used to work for Bungie but now working for Blizz eat this game up. Story is boring, dungeons are boring…love clearing all of them for no rogue codices until much later. I picked this up knowing it was going to be a steaming pile simply for support. But I don’t think I’m going to bother. It’s the same rinse and repeat reused crap anyway. Strongholds are just dungeons with enemies two levels higher and I didn’t get anything of value doing it solo on WT2.

I don’t think warhammer 40k inquisitor getting a new season in a few weeks will be a d4 killer. Not a bad game mind you. But not a d4 killer

Neocore hasn’t even worked out how to make money getting the Battle sisters DLC on console yet even. and their seasons get…stale.

People in poe…are there already, as well.

There is far more to D4 than the previous games… story, end-game, etc etc… let em complain and review bomb it. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s so far looking like it’s going to take the top Diablo crown.

METACRITIC user reviews? On a AAA game? Hahahahahah.
Dude come on, some joe blow can create an account and give it a 0 because they don’t like it.

It’s not that bad once you accept the fact that this isn’t really an ARPG but more of an action MMO. I made the same mistake going into it thinking it was going to be like D2 or D3 but it’s just not.

I’ve noticed this a lot.

The game is fun for a while, but aside from the early game it feels like there is no way to play the game correctly and be powerful, because of the constant scaling. You’re either in zero danger and you’re lazily grinding down mobs of enemies as they attack you from all sides, or you’re riding the struggle bus against several elites.

There is no middle ground. In D2 and D3 basic enemies were still a threat that did damage, and elites were tougher enemies thrown in the mix. Now we’ve just got two extremes of weak garbage mobs and Borderlands 2 bosses.

Part of it is also the skills though. I used to think D3’s skill system was bad, now it seems wonderful compared to D4’s.

Then there’s the way they made severely limited ways to increase your movement speed (not enough to matter, barbarians), for the sake of ‘incentivizing’ people to prepurchase or buy mounts. $70 game releases with paid cosmetics to boot.

I’m probably going to request a refund, I didn’t think it was possible to do worse than D3.

The game’s intended to be a solid foundation to build on, and they have succeeded at that. It’s a live service game that will be supported for years.

It has flaws, no doubt. I’ve been vocal about them on this very forum, but the game is legitimately good and has the potential to be even better if the Devs listen to feedback and support the game.

The visual animations aren’t as satisfying as D3 and you don’t like the legendaries that gives 20-30% buffs … But uninspiring armor sets that just gives 10,000% damage to a skill while killing unicorns and teddybears in that secret zone full of colorful flowers and rainbows was perfectly fine ?
To each their own, so why don’t you just go back to that game and let the adults enjoy D4

The game needs open trading. That is the true endgame of games like this. Without it, there is nothing.

As soon as someone starts complaining about the scaling or that they should “feel powerful” my brain checks out. I’m sorry if that’s what you want, but personally I love that it isn’t a braindead play it while watching YouTube on the next screen game. I hope it doesn’t get to easy later.

Yup thats why d2 they added terror zones and charms to deal with immunities. Thats 1 dum. Thing to have in a game is no way to deal with immunities without a end game rune word for your merc which took 4ever, use a lower resist wand or play a nec.

Should bever put mobs that cant be killed without that.

Which is precisely why metacritic is a garbage website that no one should pay attention to.

Anyone, even people who do not own and have never played any Diablo game, can get on there and give Diablo 4 a 0 score review. There’s no requirements to own or have played the game first, no quality control.

The sooner people ignore that plague sore of a website the better.

I played D3 for years and D4 is the much better game so far. The early years of D3 were a nightmare… and the later years were bland…
