I get booted EVERY time I portal to a city. Makes for a long run back when I need to sell or salvage stuff. City themselves are a nightmare when trying to navigate when my character isn’t walking but sliding everywhere because of the my connection with other players. Never have had this problem with other games. I hope all of this gets fixed. I am considering pre-ordering but at the moment…no.

For me it’s 90% of the time when portaling to main town but doesn’t happen with other waypoints. And it seems to happen when there is more activity in town, too much lag causes it not to load in.

Are you on an older Xbox Or an S / X?
Older one but it shouldn’t be as bad as it is.
And it probably won’t, but at this point in 2023 with an older gen Xbox you’ll have to start wondering whether or not it can handle new games you’re trying to play them on.
I give it another year before you see no new games being released for XB1 / PS4.
There aren’t enough games right now just on new gen for me to worry about and whatever happens in the future my future self will deal with but I understand what you mean.
Exact same thing happening to me all afternoon. Really frustrating having to lug everything back to town as the portal just boots me from the game. Every. Single. Time.
My daughter is having the same problem on her XB1.
I stopped porting to the city and now just port to smaller towns. Works nearly all the time but does mean a run to the city for specialist vendors
