Basically the same thing is happening for Season 5. I have to stay logged into town for 5 or more minutes before doing anything or the game will freeze or crash.
I have 32gb of ram, I have a RTX 3070, i7-10700KF CPU @ 3.80GHz
My only bottleneck is my Wifi 5G internet (150mbs). The router is directly above me up stairs. I dont usually get disconnected. I played WoW on this just fine. I was just on path of exile and was leveling just fine, loading up instantly. I just dont know what it is with this game.
That right there is your issue. This game is touchy about its internet connection. Apparently your WiFi is glitching enough to kill or interrupt the connection.
Test it by using a cat 5/6 cable and see if the issue goes away.
I dont have a choice. I dont pay for the internet so the box is where it is. I am leeching internet off someone else with their permission. But I am saving 100$ a month doing so. It is what it is. I can’t just run a line from their apartment to mine, that’s not practical. But just to let you know, I experience no lag in a lot of games like World of Warcraft. Played Season of Discovery just fine. I hosted 7 days to die servers with 2 other friends and no lag. I have played path of exile just fine, I even played a ton of Once Human, and have had NO LAG playing that game. It is a Blizzard issue. Plus the people on WIFI on the console, what about them? How on earth are they playing smoothly? I have no clue. This is 100% a Diablo issue.
It is far more likely an issue with the adapter. Now, Diablo 4 can be finicky as hell, but if its having issues, its far more likely to be choking on the WiFi device you are using.
Console WiFi are usually better designed, so they have less trouble, but even then they can have problems occasionally.
So you are leeching your internet, and distance matters too. I would try a better quality WiFi card. And not some lame USB stick either. Get a PCIe card that you can install.
If this is on a laptop, then its time to check for drivers, updates, etc. But even a laptop WiFi card can be replaced in most cases.
Don’t really have much sympathy for you here. Maybe its time to reevaluate your priorities if you can’t afford your own internet.
Well, considering I don’t experience lag in general in any of those areas… It still going to be something with your setup, even though you don’t want to hear that.
Don’t misunderstand me though. The game does have some performance issues. But it mostly revolves around being touchy about your internet connection or your graphic configuration.
For some of you, having crossplay enabled causes issues in areas where there are other players too.
Ok explain to me, how I am able to play games like Once Human without a hiccup? No lag, no glitching, online with friends. How was I able to play World of Warcraft? How am I able to host a 7days to die and Valhiem game without any lag with 2-3 people joining. I played Last Epoch and Deep Rock Galactica no issues there.
I just don’t see how I am able to play those games, but get horrible lag in this game. It’s actually unplayable at times. I even will play during non peak hours like 5am and it’s bad, but not that bad, but the second it hits 4pm here, the game is just unplayable.
The lag is like hitting a wall, you click where to go but the character hits an invisible wall and won’t go. But the mobs are fine, not glitching or freezing and moving and hitting me, but I am frozen in place. But I can teleport just fine on my Sorc to get out of my “stuck”. It’s the weirdiest thing how I just cant move through a NM dungeon, helltide, town. It’s all the same. But I can load a waypoint instantly. I can login instantly.
In my opinion I think the game does not work for people with lower bandwidth speeds. It just has an issue. But World of Warcraft and handle low bandwidth players just fine.
Unless you can come up with oh well your poor you just need to get better internet, you are not really helping at all.
Honestly, if that’s what I’m coming up with, then no point in answering no. But I mean, it doesn’t reflect well on you is all.
Because they aren’t trying to jump server points while traversing the world.
Diablo IV is using a bit broad networking setup. In that rather than having a private instanced world for you and up to 3 other players (like D3) its creating the world and grabbing server locations that it thinks is best for your location.
But here’s the rub:
VPN services really screw with this. DNS servers from different ISPs also screw up with this.
I would suggest that you can first turn off or shut down any VPN services you might be using. Nord, Malwarebytes, whatever.
If you are not using any VPN at all, or disabling it doesn’t help, then try setting the DNS manually to use Google DNS.
