On hirelings and mercenaries

So there was talk recently on whether Blizzard would be putting hirelings or mercenaries in the game. I’m not going to lie, but I don’t think this is necessary now that we have mounts. I don’t even think that anyone has actually went in depth with the subject and the possibilities of what can be done with them. The first thing that I thought of was bonuses when mounting/dismounting via a cool down timer, giving combat bonuses or crowd control effects. A charge/trample effect would fall into this category as well.

Furthermore, as you level up, perhaps a system that would unlock quality of life options on the mount itself. For instance, tools for crafting, augmenting, and even repairing from your mount so there is less time spent traveling to and from town. Also, the final thing that I would really love to see with the mount would be extra storage space, allowing for other mounts like a camel or mule with slower speed but with the previous addition of extra storage.

If you have any other ideas, question, or comments, please leave them in this thread so we can get the ball rolling for the good folks working on Diablo 4 to see your own suggestions and possible improvements to an asset in the game, that I think since the recent beta’s has been overlooked by the community.

Thanks,

Tyrson

Why does your post look like that??

By putting three ` at the top of your paragraph it changes the format I guess.
Dont know why you would do it though.

As for the post, I think mercenaries are useless for the most part. They are basically a meat shield or debuff machine and that’s it.

Please, Son of Tyr, I beg you; Never format a post that way again.

I second the motion.

The only Hireling we could/should see in diablo 4 is:

The warrior/knight class’s squire

As part of its abilities, this class can call forth its squire that fights along your side, squire which you can gear like a normal character and choose the skills he uses

Big no to mercenaries, Hate finding gear for them.

I thought I would miss them coming from D3, honestly it’s a relief to not have to worry about getting gear for them. Skol.

Personally would love the option of having my alts hangout somewhere and I could go hire them to run with me and use the gear and build that I have them built for. Also maybe you could send them out on missions to gather resources and such.

I fixed it, really don’t know why it defaulted to that format.
