Yes, it works. Can still get one shot though.

It’s weird playing with <100 life. I didn’t die but there were I few times it looked like the barrier was the only thing keeping me alive.
By what? I would have to stand there doing nothing for 30 seconds for anything to burn through that much mana/shield.
If you take the Mana Shield skill tree passive also, you end up with like 70% all-DR (not even using Harlequin), 40% vs Vulnerable, 30-40% while Healthy, etc ON TOP of the 85% Armor and Resistances.
And on my build, there is even a further enemy damage reduced passives. Unless it’s a death no matter what mechanic (like Lilith’s floor disappearing), I cannot imagine anything doing enough damage to one-shot you.

I watched a video of someone testing their mana shield sorc on the PTR. They died to something in the Infernal Hordes.

Dying in Infernal Hordes at all sounds like a player problem. Dying in Infernal Hordes WITH 15-35K Mana shield acting like Health and access to tons of Damage Resistance definitely IS a player problem lol.

Maybe he was testing bro. Sometimes a successful test is to the point of failure.

No it does not work at all like old school mana shield, its just a offensive season power, massive buff to core skills, its not even that good defensively (at least outside of Lightning/Cracling energy builds that keep generating mana and you cant really die even in higher pits as long as you have crackling energy, even when frozen and surrounded)
