So I haven’t been following much with D4 lately, but I am curious is all our old gear becoming obsolete with season 4 coming up? I just want to know what to do with all my old things. If so lmk if I should just salvage all or sell
They will not be able to interact with new crafting mechanics. They will be " frozen in time" as the devs said.
The only thing you should do with your legacy gear is use it to farm up new gear. The new stuff will be vastly superior.
Then salvage your legacy gear.

Q. What will happen to current items after this rework?
A. Charles - All of the items you currently have on your characters or on the Eternal Realm, will be flagged as what are called “Legacy Items.” This means they are not able to interact with the new systems of Tempering or Masterworking. They’ll continue to function as they are, they’re not going to break, they’re not gonna be rerolled or changed in anyway. This was an item in the old system, but if you want to engage with the new systems and find those greater affixes and temper all the cool new affixes onto it, and do Masterworking of course, you’re going to need to go out and find new items.
Tl;Dr - Your items won’t change, but you can’t alter them with the new crafting systems either. You will need to find new items if you wish to use these new crafting systems on items.
