Okay, time for my feedback 💀

I know, probably just another feedback thread, but if they read the forums by chance, it may is read by someone. But hey, it’s at least a good use for post #100.

Shortly about me:
I used to be a huge fan of blizzard and their games. Especially Diablo II and III but I played most Blizzard games. I am around for quite some time now. Most of it are great memories, and I have no words how happy I am that they did such an amazing job on D2:R, after they screwed up with WC3:Refunded so badly. So they are able to, but sometimes it’s hard to believe what is going on with that company

D:Immoral, OvercashÂČ are speaking for themselfs.

I have countless hours spent in D2, most of it at a time I didn’t had track of it, so it’s at least 1000+ hours played. Very likely a lot more, but whatever. I dumped over 5000 hours in diablo 3, so still casual, but with the needed teeth to bite through a lot of grinding. I was there, when we hit the Inferno Wall in vanilla D3, the auction hourse for reals monyes and all the “then we doubled it” memes. I enjoyed when it was changed to smart loot, Reaper of Souls came out and it become a better and better game each season and I am still somehow confident history will repeat and D4 will become a way better game that it is right now, over time, the base is solid, the art, the tone, the setting of the game is great. Story was good. Fighting system feels okayish, not as polished and arcady as D3, but that’s by design. I guess. So overall a good foundation for the future, even tho it worries me a bit, how things lag out sometimes and what is going on with loading all inventories +stashes of all players in a town without a reason, tho.

Reached Level 100 in the season a few days back, finished the journey and took a break for a few days. I planned to try a NM100 today, adjusted some things on my gear and skills etc. How hard can it be? Now we have even Patch 1.1.3; Less CC by the mobs, woohoo.

Nope. I salvaged a ton of sigils on my journey to 100, because a lot of those affixes are just annoying, it doesn’t make it harder, it makes it slower and simply creates the urge to flip the table
(╯°□°)â•Żïž” ┻━┻
While it’s not rewarding at all, I have no idea how anyone could come to the conclusion, that this a good system. You can’t choose the dungeon, you can’t choose the Tier, you get a bunch of affixes you just don’t want to play at all. Why?

Okay, so let’s get a good sigil with tier 100
What can I say, I lost almost all my sigil powder now, without getting many tier 100 sigils I could run. I got 4x100 overall. 2 had mobtypes & affixes that oneshots you before even entering the dungeon, so bye bye. One I tried, only to discover I had to do more adjustments to my gear first, I tried until I failed it. Luckly I had 1 left that had really good dungeons and okaish affixes, I popped it, popped a potion, opened the map and
 GAMECRASH!!!1

So Patch 1.1.3 was shipped again with bugs in it. Surprise! :tada:
This is by the way the reason why I am typing this, game crashed multiple times for me today, I was mostly in Kyovashad, running around from vendor to vendor, because it would’ve been to easy to put them a little more close to each other. Since we got such nice slow movement, we really can experience it fully, that’s by design. I guess. So yeah, nothing new here, Game was running fine during beta, except a cutscrene that crashed. Early Acces was fine, no crashes. On official game release day, it started lagging and crashing. They patched. It became better and worse again. Better and worse again. Now we are at a worse again, hope they can sort it out in the next 2-4 hotfixes, so that they can break it again at 1.1.4 :+1:

So no tier 100 sigils left, not much sigil powder left and I am not going to regrind that. I guess I am done with the season. And to be honest? It feels like I finished work and can start a vacation
That’s how grindy it is. And I did a lot of grinding in other games. But at least those games rewarded me for it somehow. So yeah, let’s see what Season 2 will feel like. If it’s similar to the current experience
Not sure if I can fool my self of a self imposed carrot on a stick after that. We will see. For now there is nothing I can miss out.
Uber Lillith is unbeatable anyway and lootwise there is not much to chase for. That’s by the way the biggest pain point ever. You simply spend most time reading through useless affixes on items that are useless, even if they roll 3/4 bis, because rerolling it to a 4/4 is mostlikely less realistic than winning the lottery. But that’s by design. I guess.

So, let’s get to my biggest critic points in random order, in a bullet list, for the case you skipped the writing:

  • It’s too grindy. That alone wouldn’t be the issue, but in the combination of:
    • Not beeing rewarded enough
    • Spending hours/days/weeks of grind with a few clicks at vendors
    • Never really feel absolutely powerful
      makes it a chore.
  • We are moving too slow
  • We spend to much time on reading (mostly useless) item affixes, instead of slaying monsters
  • Have to backtrack a lot in Dungeons without a reason. Didn’t we solve that puzzle already last time we finished that dungeon??!
  • Some events are gated behind long timers, only can get the chance of 1 world boss a day because of that. I have a real job, you know?
  • Cooldowns are too long
  • Not enough stash space, why would you not add stashes per character and only 1-2 shared stash tabs

  • Rerolling an affix on an item is a joke, especially after you “fixed” the issue of priority affixes

  • Random sigils are annoying as hell, allow us at least to choose the tier and the dungeon for crafting. They can still drop randomly

  • A lot of underwhelming uniques, some really good ones and then unobtainable uber uniques. I am curious how you will implement that target farming in S2 - Can’t wait for your twist to gate it behind something most players are unable to reach, like beating Lillith naked, it’s not hard enough yet
  • Simple Features like showing the spawn times of events in a schedule INGAME or the time you played a character and how much you played every class and overall just missing

  • No SSF mode
  • We are so zoomed in, we are closer to a 3rd person, than an isometric view

  • We can almost change nothing of our appearance anymore after character creation
  • No loadouts
  • Not enough Stash, (yes, now I just doubled it)
  • Re-appearing crashes that just delete sigils, potions etc. one spend time and effort to obtain them

The game has a lot of issues, especially in the QoL section, those should have priority. Content wise it’s okay, as long as it becomes more rewarding. It may sound a little too negative overall, but I am still mad that I lost multiple pots and a 100 sigil today for now reason, simply because you can’t deploy a patch that don’t crash the game. I still see a future for the game, I really hope most of those things get sorted out over time, that the game feels less like a job, more like the good old satisfaction of the power fantasy.

Thank you!

See you in Season 2

hah i had a big laugh there :stuck_out_tongue: ^^

I am fine with that, it also made me laugh
It’s the real endgame anyway :joy:

Did you just wrote all that?

I mean

Why? :man_facepalming:

You pretty much hit the nail on head with most of the problems in the game. Hopefully they fix these things and the game becomes what it should have been at launch.

I think what is going to happen is, “too little too late”. Your argument is valid but until an expansion is announced I do not see D4 being popular again.

The disconnects while in GRs so you lose your sigil did it for me as well (well, everything kinda did it but that’s when it dawned on me that the game was a complete waste of time until further notice)

I would imagine it is called “feedback”, so that the devs can take it in, and maybe act upon things for once. :expressionless:

Why not, can’t play the game due to constant crashes on my high end gaming rig that runs Cyberpunk 2077 on Psycho-Settings and Pathtracing just fine. So if there is a chance the devs will read it, it’s here now

Probably yes, I guess the game lost a lot of players already and will only bring back a huge amount with an expansion. However there are still people playing it, so every improvement has an impact right now and for everyone who come back in the future at a bigger release of a big season/patch/expansion

I can feel that pain so badly, I mean such things can happen. But the more you invested to get it, the harder it is on loosing it. So as long as the game is unstable, they need to find ways to reduce the grind to make it less painful if it happens

I played PoE a longer while, tho - I always liked the Blizzard ARPGs more
I skipped Last Epoch because it didn’t look appealing to me
and Grim Dawn is something I missed back then, guess nowadays it’s not relevant anymore.

I was hyped for Wolcen, sadly they failed at launch badly.

I enjoyed Titan Quest back in the days and I am curious about Titan Quest 2, that was announced

In the end I have not so much time for gaming than I used to have, so I need to focus on 1-2 Games at a time or dedicate to one grinder. I waited for D4 so many years, I can still wait a little more. While being able to play already as long as I am motivated. Today that motivation died for the current season, but I achieved almost all my goals anyway, so maybe a break will help. I still wanted to point out all the pain points. Some of them are already known by blizz, but some others very likely not. Hope we will get some kind of communication again soon

Grim Dawn is most excellent, in my mind the best aRPG there is right now. And they just announced a new expansion.

GRs are in D3. I think they are talking about D4.

100% - we have the same experience of this game.

GRs are in D4 too. They just named it something else to hide the fact it’s recycled content.

No they are not. D2R was made by Vicarious Visions.

Um
waaaaay too long man. How about a TLDR version?

Hahaha I know I should not laugh but misery enjoys company. I had a similar experience early on. I am a very mediocre player & got my pulse up doing the capstone dungeon for Nightmare.

There I was at the glorious moment when I knew the final boss was about to take his last breath
 then GAMECRASH. I wept blood.

I got a good laugh out of this thread, not only OP’s but some of the funny comments.

I think you made some good points. I’d love to see more world boss spawns, more stash space, increased CDR
etc.
