So, hypothetically, let’s say I am going a wonky necromancer minion build. Would a pair of boots with an estimated +50 to all stats(+50 to a stat on 4 enchantments) be good? I mean, it would boost the character and 30% would go to minions. This is hypothetical, of course. I did not make this decision and choose gear that boosted stats only.
From the Stats for beginners article on Maxroll:
Core Stats always give the following bonuses:
Strength: +1 Armor per point
Intelligence: +0.05% All Resistance per point
Willpower: +0.1% Healing Received and +0.25% Overpower Damage per point
Dexterity: +0.01% Dodge Chance per point
There are also three more bonuses you get from Core stats, but which bonus comes from which stat changes depending on your class:
Barbarian
- +0.1% Skill Damage per point of Strength
- +0.03% Resource Generation per point of Willpower
- +0.02% Critical Strike Chance per point of Dexterity
Druid
- +0.1% Skill Damage per point of Willpower
- +0.03% Resource Generation per point of Intelligence
- +0.02% Critical Strike Chance per point of Dexterity
Rogue
- +0.1% Skill Damage per point of Dexterity
- +0.03% Resource Generation per point of Strength
- +0.02% Critical Strike Chance per point of Intelligence
Sorcerer and Necromancer
- +0.1% Skill Damage per point of Intelligence
- +0.03% Resource Generation per point of Willpower
- +0.02% Critical Strike Chance per point of Dexterity
I included the other classes for reference if you create an alt. So, as you can see. Minions would get help from Intelligence (for damage) and Dexterity (crit strike). Strength would help minions in combat, Willpower would only be needed if minions get Overpower damage.
That’s really helpful. Like, amazingly so. Would it be better if I rolled straight stats on gear, or the other stuff, if I hypothetically go full minions?
Some gear will have minion specific affixes. Those will add directly and should take precedence.
Also, Hulking Aspects modifies Golem, Unyielding Commander’s Aspects modifies Army of the Dead as well as all minions. So, you would want to go to certain dungeons and get these aspects or have Legendary gear with these affixes.
However, a pure minion build is not possible in D4. Final Bosses tend to defeat minions fairly quickly. So, Blight, Decrepify and Decompose does damage and helps your minions. However, you may want to take Sever instead as it is not CC and gets a bonus to you for each active minion as well as does straight damage while you wait for Army of the Dead to re-activate. Make sure you take Supreme Army of the Dead as it raises your skeletons as well.
