Odd loot drop from a Legion event

I’ve been leveling in seasons and have an L45 sorc. I did a couple of legion events yesterday in my L30s and got a reasonably expected amount of loot. 5 or 6 mostly rares and a bunch of other drops that my pet picked up.

Just now I did a Legion event at L45, killed a ton of stuff, and at the end the chests popped and disappeared much quicker than normal and all that dropped from all of the chests was one rare and 2 magic items that were low level. This wasn’t just “gee, RNG wasn’t great on that event”, this was “am I even playing the same game as I was before” level of reduced rewards.

Does a legion event have a level? Are they bugged right now? Is this suddenly shared loot that I wasn’t aware of (everyone else was right on top of the chests when they appeared, but it’s not like I saw a bunch of stuff appear and then immediately get grabbed up - literally those were the onlyh 3 things that came out of any/all of the chests)? Is there some sort of “tagging in” I needed to do to be included in the event that I missed?

This was hardly a reasonable tradeoff of time for loot. I can get better loot faster farming non-event terrain.

Legions are boring. By the time I get to mobs, they are all dead at someone else’s hand. I got digitigrade for my druid to move faster, but it has been broken for a year.

Weird. Sounds like a bug maybe. You do get more loot if the entire group finished the whole event. Like it’s been a while but have to get all objectives done. I don’t remember exactly as I haven’t touched a legion even since like season 2. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Had the same experience last night - couple blues and a white on Tier2 with character level over 40. Only ran it for season journey but was like, umm what???
