I just thought of this, and a quick google search didn’t find anything.
Can 1 item be associated with 2 builds in armory. Say I have a perfect Shako, can I have two builds that both have it within the armory?
I didn’t have an issue with this in the PTR. Was one of the things I tested, on two different characters. It’ll just give you an error if it can’t find said piece of gear is all.

I haven’t been on test servers to confirm but I don’t see why that wouldn’t be an option. I seriously doubt that any piece of gear would be locked to one build only.

I figured that it would be okay, but just wondered if anyone had confirmed. I never used it in d3. Thanks for the answers.
