Oculus...why, just why

  • The Oculus (Unique Wand): Gain the effect of the Teleport Enchantment for free.

Okay sounds interesting…

  • When you Evade using Teleport Enchantment, you are taken to a random location.

Why…just why. Why do I have to either put myself further away from my goal, or worse, placed in a mob pack or explosion just to get a free enchantment. I hope it TP’s you to town, that would make about as much sense as taking an iconic unique from D2 and making it a joke.

R.I.P. Oculus

Everything sorc chooses comes with a downside. This is all part of the class design.

Don’t forget the teleport enchantment already increases the cooldown.

To be fair, on console i pretty much randomly teleport anyway… it targets off screen mobs frequently

Yeah, the Oculus sucks. I got it after my first nightmare and you lose out on a bunch of damage using it. It comes with a max of +15 teleport which is crazy but nothing else is that eye catching. It’s bugged in open world that will just put you out of bounds. Please for the love of god don’t think about using it in nightmares because you will die.

Just another garbage unique :sob:

The plus evade charges is actually interesting to pair with heirloom.

But teleporting to a random location… It has to be an April fool’s joke. It’s honestly comical.

any potential to…go exploring in the open world?

Clearly a reference to D2.
But still, doesn’t sound very useful… or reliable.

Max Evade Charges 1-3
Attacks Reduce Evades Cooldown 0.9-1.2
Lucky hit restore resources 10.5-21.0
Ranks of teleport 7-15

Are the stats on the weapon… why would anyone use this over 4 offensive affixes? Teleporting around nonstop doesn’t kill anything especially when you have no control.

have you even seen it yet? it has +10 to teleport. +2 evade charges. boot affixes. 0% extra damage. …and it teleports you under the map.

actually is the worst weapon in the game possible. i don’t think you can get 0% damage on any other weapon.

this is what gets me

on top of a frankly terrible, garbage, awful unique affect that makes the item a literally unusable death trap for HC…the stats suck

at least if it had some insane damage stats I might understand. but it’s pure meme fodder for silly teleporting around cosntantly, that’s it. zero damage and you give up a considerable amount of damage to get it.

all I can think of is they really want it working with rainment for mega-CC but the random nature of the evade-eport makes that super risky and fairly useless.

i’m shocked that professionals who are paid real salaries in legal tender were tasked with designing, implementing, and testing this item and that it made it into the final build of the game in this state

with decisionmaking like this I expect sorcs to finally be in a remotely decent state by S17!

This. Sooo much this. And you still have glyphs that don’t function due to glyph socket and magic/rare node placement. Ball lightning still disappears into walls. You nerfed a passive/aspects on the class with the least build option endgame. I’m in shock. There is actually no reason to play a Sorcerer in this game.

Because the devs wanted to bring over an iconic item from D2 but failed to understand it on a fundamental level. They wanted to “capture the feeling of using it” (which came from its downside) but forgot to add most of the upsides, instead they just doubled down on the downside which is horrendous for obvious reasons.

Here is an example of what a rather faithful adaptation should have looked like:

Lucky Hit: Up to a 5% Chance to Restore +[10,5-21]% Primary Resource
+[8-20] Maximum Mana
+[6,6-15]% Attack Speed
+20% Resistance to All Elements
*Taking direct damage has a 25% chance to cast Teleport into a random direction. In addition, Sorcerer gains +3 Ranks to all Skills.

Why don’t they just delete sorc entirely. I feel like they hate it so much.

It’s not even that. Looking at the patch notes about the new unique items of other classes, I literally felt Blizzard is trolling all the sorcs. It’s like they purposely gave every sorc a big middle finger:

Barbarian

  • Azurewrath (Unique Sword): Lucky Hit - Your Core Skills have up to a 20% chance to Freeze enemies for 3 seconds and deal 0.75-1.5 Cold damage to them.

Druid

  • Fleshrender (Unique One-Hand Mace): Debilitating Roar and Blood Howl deal 0.5-1.0 damage to Nearby Poisoned enemies.

Necromancer

  • Lidless Wall (Unique Shield): Lucky Hit - While you have an active Bone Storm, hitting an enemy outside of a Bone Storm has up to a 5-25% chance to spawn an additional Bone Storm at their location. Each of your active Sacrifice bonuses increases the chance by 25% and the total number of additional Bone Storms you can have by +1.

Rogue

  • Eaglehorn (Unique Bow): Penetrating Shot has a 30-80% chance to fire an arrow that bounces off walls and scenery. Hitting enemies from behind with Penetrating Shot will make them Vulnerable for 3 seconds.

Sorcerer

  • The Oculus (Unique Wand): Gain the effect of the Teleport Enchantment for free. When you Evade using Teleport Enchantment, you are taken to a random location.

Sorc unique is the only one with shetty side effect. If you have bad design philosophy, then you should have bad design philosophy consistently across classes. WTF is this?

I’m hearing a lot of hate on this weapon and I’ll be honest I was VERY hesitant because of the attack power lost when putting this on. But the additional 15 levels to teleport make this weapon so worth it. I am lvl 75 and was having no issues running through nightmare levels 38-48 with a friend who’s level 94. I wasn’t dying and I was easily handling packs. The added bonus damage from lightening skills after this latest patch did wonders for the sorc. Community. Like I said, I was real hesitant but now, I feel like the only way I switch this weapon out is if I get a better roll on a different one. It’s tooooo good. Yes the random teleport is a little annoying but when your able to pop off 4-5 teleports in a row, it makes it impossible to die.

Level 75 and wrecking nightmare lvls 38-48 with it sooooo I dunno. I think it’s a lot better than ppl are giving it credit for. The 15 levels to teleport is so OP

At this rate of implementing changes with downside, I can foresee the future that…

season 2 changes

Devouring Blaze level 3

21% crit dmg only when you’re using a dagger
Mystical Frost Nova Only apply vulnerable for 4s when you are equipping a 2h staff.
