this might be a bug. i imprinted the avalanche aspect on a rare offhand focus, now im unable to place the focus in the imprint menu to replace the power, But i can put any other piece of gear in the imprint menu. Even gear ive imprinted before. side note im NOT talking about extracting. just imprinted a power on my imprinted focus. i can reimprint all my other imprinted gear with other powers, just my focus is broke.

That also happened with my with the same Avalanche aspect…
I’m now stuck with this aspec in this great focus I got.
I have a BiS Focus (Book) and can’t Re-imprint a better version of the same imprint on it, it seems like a bug with Focus, specificly Book Focus.
Hope they fix soon, can’t replace the focus is BiS 812 Item Power 
This same thing is happening to me. I imprinted a rare ancestral focus with a “Storm Swell Aspect”, upgrading it to a legendary. Now I’m trying to imprint a different aspect on it and it will not allow me. It says, “Only rare or legendary items can have aspects imprinted on them”.
Side note: the item is also bugged when it comes to Transmog. It allowed me to transmog it originally but now it has reverted to its original appearance. It’s almost as if the game doesn’t recognize it as the item it is.
Not sure what the item was originally called, but it’s called “Storm Swell Fiendish Folio” now that it is a legendary if that helps any for the programmers. And yes, it is also a book looking focus!
I have a bug where it wont let me imprint at all in the first place. but as far as REimprinting I was under the impression imprinting was a one time thing
same problem but i dont see any fix near future there are bigger issues

wth do you mean there are bigger issues? Sorc lit has a bugged equipment slot. That’s a big issue.
Bug still existent, put a bad aspect on my perfect focus and cant reimprint with a good one
Same issue. Bis focus stuck with a placeholder aspect o_O. When trying to imprint it says “only rare and legendary items can have Aspects imprinted onto them” even though item is ancestral.
Also this bug has some affect to the transmog. Even I change the look of the item it keeps changing it back to its original look. This latter part is minor inconvenience but just bringing it up.

Same issue here on almost perfect Ancestral focus imprinted with Storm Well. Can’t imprint a better version because the item is grayed out and says it has to be rare or legendary to imprint.
happened to me a week ago now. the aspect I have on my Focus legit has the worst roll and I’m trying to put my better roll aspect on but i can’t because apparently, it’s a “unique” this bug is legit a game breaker and the fact it’s been a thing since launch its kind of crazy.
well 1 month later and it seems the bug is still there, have multiple focus on my necromancer and can’t switch legendary power on them
Yeah I just ran into this same issue. Also with book focus. Imprinted once but now want to imprint a better version of the same aspect but it won’t allow me to even put it into the imprint slot. Definitely a bug.
