I have been playing Diablo 4 for roughly 35 hrs. I have a 4080, 7700x and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM. I have tried DLSS 3 multiple times w/ Reflex. On GeForce Experience, it tells me Optimal Settings are with DLAA, Frame Generation and Reflex! That seems strange. I have never experienced more frames or smoother performance, that when I use DLSS 2 with Performance settings. I am easily over 210 FPS, when not running OBS, at 4k! I don’t see that at DLSS 3.
Does anyone else choose to run DLSS 2 over DLSS 3??
I have an MSI Gaming Trio RTX 4090. I just use G-Sync, DLAA and Nvidia Reflex + boost with frame gen off since the card can already take me to the maximum refresh rate of my monitor and it’s super smooth.
I don’t think either a 4080 or a 4090 should need frame gen with D4 at all unless you have a 4k monitor with an extremely high refresh rate, and I’m sure there aren’t many of those.
Interesting thanks. I am running DLSS Performance.
No reflex. But with more research I am thinking of switching to DLAA and reflex also.
I should be able to stay above 144 fps. I am at 230 FPS now, but as long as I am at 144 that is fine and the quality of the image will be better.
Frame generation is part of dlss3. DLAA is similar to DLSS but instead of being at the graphics driver level, it is at the game level, so that combination should produce higher quality results.
If you don’t need the extra frames from DLSS / DLAA, etc, it’s best to have it off as the game looks better when ran at its native resolution, without any upscaling
There’s no upscaling involved with DLAA. It’s just anti-aliasing. DLSS is the only one that supersamples. DLAA is supposed to replicate the additional smoothness that higher resolutions bring without you having to increase the resolution or resolution scale. It saves FPS indirectly rather than directly like DLSS. If you use it at native resolution it’ll just produce higher quality 4k(which it does). I play at 4096 x 2160 and DLAA just makes it a bit less jagged.

Dlaa is native resolution. Dlss renders your realutuon at lower and display at your desired resolutuon size.
Imo dlaa ftw
With this rig you Dont need Dlss at all…
Also disable reflex. Finally dlss 3 is a gimick for nvidia to sell this crap new series (4090 exclude cuz a beast) dlss 2 is enough at quality…
The question is why have dlss on at all? More than 100fps at a Non shooter game is pointless, also if you have a Native 4k monitor dlss will lower your resolution so this defeats the purpose of 4k
