Not impressed with summoner

So… I’m level 24 so far trying to play a dedicated summoner build and oh boy this has been a pretty awful experience so far. I find that all of the skeletons fall over like a cheap folding table at nearly anything beyond the most basic mook enemies. Skeleton warriors really feel terrible to me. Their attacks have no impact and they seem to do only 1/3 the damage of the mages. And that is with the skirmishers which seem like they are supposed to be the DPS skeleton warrior variant.

While the damage feels bad I think the durability of the minions is worse, the inability to easily heal the skeletons just feels terrible I feel I spend the entire fight trying to heal and resummon all of them. I wish they instead designed it to where you could command them or cast buff/debuffs. I mean they had diablo 2 (& 3) to look at when making this game and I’m shocked all we get is 2 curses and that’s it. It feels rather bare bones (no pun intended).

Honestly summoner necro really reminds me of diablo 3 witch docter minions at launch. low damage and low health with very little ability to support or invest in them. I guess after recently playing D2R and Path Of Exile the D4 necro just isn’t even in the same galaxy as those two games. I just don’t find this take on the necro very fun, frankly it’s rather boring.

I wonder how others feels about all this especially those who have played other ARPGs and like minion builds.

I’ll try another class but so far out of two of them, they’ve both felt meh before level 30. (Chain lightning sorc and shadow dot/summon necro.) They both got way more fun after that though (chain lightning sorc less so, they’re basically a cooldown mage.)
I think it’s a feature of the game for the early levels to feel more slow and painful. Like a true nobody rising through the ranks out of nowhere.
