I don’t have enough materials to even upgrade my potion or any items. The game progression is so terribly slow now.

Are on seasonal? I think they expect you to do a lot of new event and choose the materials option in the dungeon. And there’s a new opal consumable that comes from thsi event that causes more materials to drop. That’s where I been getting a decent amount.
Yes, does feel silly to do this grandiose event for generic materials, but it’s the best source I’ve run across so far.
The common items are legit impossible to obtain in the quantity’s you need. All the high end materials are easy to get, but you won’t have enough iron chunks/hides to upgrade anything if you’re starting to get serious about optimization.
They basically put basic materials behind whispers and nerfed every other source of it to 6 feet deep… If you turn in enough whispers, you can stock up on them but since other activities exists, this means breaking up your game flow to grind a few whispers and then continue what you were doing.
Every season so far they nerfed a certain type of material so hard it becomes a hard block in your progression. So far we had hard road blocks with the following material:
- souls (back again it seems)
- angelbreath (back again but “fixed”)
- gold
- veiled crystals
And now we can add even basic materials to the list of artificial blocks Blizz deliberatly puts in place.
@Blizz: can you stop screwing with material sources every patch please. It’s stupid.
Actually, the seasonal opals suck compared to whispers. There’s just no reasoning to it. You get it all from whispers; a mining ore node gives you 1 piece, whispers give you 200. The opal drops are “better” than the other non-whisper sources, but still so small it doesn’t matter.
It pretty certain that devs dont play the game at all. They might have a power tool that give them all the mats they need to QA
Legions gave slot of standard Materials before.

Ive noticed this too. I think if you run Bloodharvest boss for awhile you get a decent amount of basic stuff. Crazy to run out with how much gear I have salvaged…
