No temper cost reroll attempts in patch? its like the number one thing

The House of Lilith always wins.

I’m open to anything that gives you the opportunity to get your piece of gear where you want it and not just hard stop not compatible with your build.

Fleshing out a build is a decent investment in finding the right gear fleshing out the right glyphs, fleshing out the right paragons, aspects.

That’s why it hurts. Because tempering just hard stops that progress when you finally get the piece of gear you’re looking for, especially in something like amulets.

I still stand by the solution being lifting the temper cap and just making it more expensive the more you temper until eventually you just can’t afford it anymore.

this is what killed d3, i want everything midlessly NOW, so devs made sets, LMAO, you are better if dont make suggestions, perfect items should be impossible and rare, only one single person should have it, if everyone does. whats is the purpose?

At no point have I ever said that I wanted everything now. I’m critiquing the tempering system which is bad and I think most people agree… If you don’t have anything constructive to say and you just want to attack me as a person maybe you should be the one who doesn’t comment

And there’s a lot more than that that sucked in D3. Also, technically nothing killed D3 because D3 was the most popular Diablo game in the entire franchise history.

Even if it’s easier for tempering, the game still have enough rngs. I think it’s another kind of thrill to try for bis and get every masterworking attempt right, to see how crazy a build can be. It’s not like it doesn’t take time, farming the gold and mat along is already time consuming. Not everyone is no lifer on the game, as someone who plays quite sometime each season, I also want to try the crazy stuff, instead of feeling I am so unlucky that it will never be possible for me.

S4 is really fun in many aspects, don’t let this one thing ruin players’ experience of it. I don’t want to remember the seanson by the pity that I bricked the bis item.

3GA is inherently not bricked by the very virtue of having 3GA. Just because you didnt temper it to god mode gear does make it bricked. Ive had ONE 3GA item drop in 100 levels +days. This story of 3GA didnt get two perfect tempers so its a toaster is a weird perspective

It’s case by case, I guess. I would take maxed out close/distant temper on my druid than a 3GA.

The difference in output is not even close.

It is not fun to roll damage to far enemies multiple times in a row as a melee build.

You’re wrong.

first i dont see whats wrong if you work for the gear to have everyone eventually get it perfect for them if they cant why play its a game not life rich boys shouldenrt be the only ones buying there perfect gears a poor kid can still work and get it how he wants it its his time his play let him enjoy it this did not kill d3 d3 not bing what was promised killed d3 at least d4 was kinda its own game sadly still cant compete with d2 d2 had great playability lots of options large random ish dungions you could hunt bosses it had its flaws like baaling to 100 was nuts after 94 and boring and some of the resistant imunitys were too far but for its age still timeless uniqes were uniqe and made for good flavor this games not bad as it is but the long drawn out fights with crappy 1 shot mechnics suck
the rng on rng on rng with no way to fix not to mention most of the rng is weighted against the player instead of toward or at least free rng makes it bad its like going to a casino and they push a button to make sure your rolls never land but call it fair

On that note I want to say just a tiny thing: even last season people were defending every aspect of one of the worst thing we’ve ever seen in diablo and the same people now are enjoying a far better product because ā€œwhinersā€ used their time to leave feedbacks all over the internet offering solutions instead of white knighting.
Blizzard Devs are not perfect, they’re humans. We are not perfect. But opinions are always good as long as they are healthy.

I might add that if the system was really random it would be very weird to see A LOT of people having 7 rolls in a row of the same useless stat most of the time.
Imho the system is designed to let you lose your item to keep you in a farm loop.
I don’t want easy, I want fair, there’s a difference. So if they find a good way to meet us in the middle I’ll be glad to see it as a victory for everyone.

The only thing I don’t understand is why people who write negative about the current tempering system decided that they definitely should get perfect rolls on every item. What if you suddenly assume that this is almost impossible?

This is not Diablo 3, here with a lot of online, everyone will not have exactly the same gear, the number of hours online should not guarantee an absolutely perfect gear, this is not an mmo, but an arpg. Pseudo rng where you eventually get your rolls like masterworking is not an ARPG system, it is timegating MMO system from WoW and from your favorite D3. That why d3 was so bad, cuz it was made by WoW developers who didn’t know who to make anything but WoW. I swear D3 spoiled you too much, and you don’t understand how an arpg should differ from an mmo

No one said every item though, no limit may be too extreme, but there needs to be some change. It’s unacceptable you brick multiple items in the same way, rolling the same garbage affix.

D3 is just appealing to the changing game industry. I think now games tend to let you have some kind of closure at some point. It’s the gotcha games that keep more of the grindy and casino aspects. Arguably, even if tempering limit is removed, s4 still has the potential for major time sink.

And the rng goes deep enough already, sometimes I want to waste some money on looks, I even need to wait for the shop to reroll, for several days… I know it’s marketing trick, it’s just dumb af.

I understand that. I am also doing distant but was also able to get it on every piece I wanted so far. A failure on distant or close results in the opposite or flat damage though. I wouldnt consider that particular bucket very brickable… There are some that are arguably bad though.

It is completely fine.
Maybe you can use that item on another build later.

It was Diablo 3 that had effectively endless lvling.
But agreed, these games should have a ending point. D4 does that much more than D3 did. Getting 2 tempering rolls you wanted is not exactly that difficult, nor is getting 12/12 masterworking.

Maybe. But the goal should not be to merely have a time sink.
It should be to have interesting RNG. Tempering is interesting, since its outcomes actually matter.
Masterworking is pointless busywork. That is the true simesink.

Got a 3 ga item just now great stats, threw it into the BS to temper, 1 in 3 chance to get the affix I wanted, didnt get it once in 5 rolls and left with a useless affix, then of course didnt get the other one i needed on the other roll either for the 5th slot and as mentioned I had no rolls left anyway. Item bricked, so annoyed I just turned the game off. Make it cost resources or something so it doesnt feel like a slap in the face to get a great item drop only to have it be useless because of rng on the tempering.

I’d like to see some changes to Tempering. But the #1 by far is a No Change option like Enchanting has. ESPECIALLY since there’s such a low amount of tempering re-rolls, it’s crushing if you take that last shot and not only is the new Temper not the one you were shooting for, but it’s a horrible one not suited to your build AT ALL.

Been there, done that. It’s no fun at all.

Such a liar. I’ll discount everything you’ve ever stated, and everything you ever state in the future.

Unlimited re-rolls is insanity, but I’d like to AT LEAST have a choice between changing and not changing what I got.

Min-maxxing is part of the fun in ARPGs, and tempering basically voids that with the forced change (not to mention bricking the items). If you get the minimum roll for what you want, you’d be insane to try again for a better a roll.

If the excuse for the inability to keep my previous temper is that it’s free, since both Masterworking and Enchanting allow infinite re-rolls, add a cost to it. I’d gladly pay a 500K or 1M fee to keep my previous temper instead of getting the new one I don’t want.
