Cooldown spam builds have the Yul rune. Non-channeled Core builds have the Tam rune. Channeled builds have either the Bac or Lith runes depending on whether it’s a moving or stationary skill. What do basic attack builds have?
Basic skill builds are in a very awkward spot with the runeword system. The Cir rune technically works but its extremely weak and basically unusable. I’m hoping that Blizzard adds a Ritual Rune for the basic attack builds before the launch of the expansion!
I think they just need to buff Cir. Even for something like Frenzy it is way too weak to make sense. But not everything is going to have a legendary rune that triggers off its primary damage source. Minion/companion build mostly don’t either, and Bac could apply equally well to, say, lunging strike, while Lith applies to Frenzy or a ranged skill. Moni could also apply to Frenzy or to anything you stagger step with, but it would be hard to get even 30/sec from it that way, despite the attack speed buffs.
Still, even with Cir being a magic rune, 1/3 the effectiveness seems silly. All of the magic ritual runes are undertuned. Instead of making them strictly weaker, they should make them more niche/harder to get the same efficiency from.
Agreed, I think that’s a solid solution! There are very few viable Ritual runes right now, and it’s going to lead to a very stale Runeword meta unless they buff Magic runes.
