I thought they were revamping all the uniques but I can find no mention of Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo in the patch notes, etc. Since they are hyping chain lightning as the seasonal build, I can’t see them NOT touching Esadora’s.
Has anyone seen this unique mentioned anywhere? I’m hoping I just somehow missed it.
It did get a rework but I am not sure it makes any difference. I would much rather they reworked overflowing energy instead because not only is it incredibly underwhelming on its own but collecting the orbs is a tedious and outdated mechanic.
I just want dropped crackling energy to be attracted towards you when you use a lightning skill, call it static cling, make it the unique paragon node in the crackling energy paragon board. So you can design builds around pulling 150 of these things into a boss fight then using cameo to giganuke the boss. something interactive, and fun.
Every once in a while, I think about trying to really supercharge crackling energy on a build. Would still need to incorporate some other things for single target etc but… hmm, it’s kind of a dream. Oculus will now have a bunch of crackling damage if I recall correctly (grr can’t recall for sure) as well which opens up some opportunities but except for the season in which we were forced into the trap dungeons (and narrow corridors attached to chambers), Oculus random teleport location is so hard to do really anything useful with. I see they decided to keep the random location in play sigh
I’ll probably try a crackling in season 5 just for experimentation. I’ll probably roll multiple sorcs and play with stuff, actually. I think season 5 will be pinnacle for sorc and for season 6: they have outright said Spiritborn will be “completely broken and OP” which has turned me off for the whole expansion/season. I’ll dabble with spiritborn when it is reasonable as I don’t like “completely broken” builds.
+1 from me. QOL is good, tals ring should be permanent as long as you have the means to do 3-4 types of damage between your skill bar and your equipment. As it is, it is incredibly easy to keep up and incredibly annoying to start up again and again after every major fight. D3 piano sorc meta was cancer and turned me away from the class i loved most.
I put in an idea that Esodora’s casts (this part is important) Charged Bolt on crackling energy pickup.
It would interact with Lam Esen Staff. Charged bolts, cast by Esodora’s 1 to 1 (Cracking energy pickup = 1 charged bolt) and made to last 300% longer and by attracted to enemies. It would also cast Lightning Nova for AoE clear.
It might even function as a build with virtual RIVERS of Charged bolt marching down the screen.
Has nothing to do with laziness. Picking up CE isn’t a mechanic that makes sense. It’s always better to continue casting instead of running around to pick up CE that doesn’t do much damage.
I really wanted to try out that build because I also love the nova visuals and I have everything else but I scrapped the mythic spear because I needed sparks and haven’t gotten it again since. I also haven’t gotten a single mythic item in days. Lesson learned not to scrap a mythic unless it’s a duplicate even if it appears to be trash, lol.
But in all fairness I don’t think builds should require multiple mythics to function. And this one requires 3 (Andariel’s helm, the spear, and the Starless ring)!
AM currently doing the build but with Oculus instead of the spear and spear enchant instead of ice blades. The build can be adapted. Just need to make sure you mad stack intelligence. The only mythic I use on my Esadora character is Andariel’s. Agree about the 3 mythics!
I tried that but without the spear you can’t get your intelligence high enough and the damage of the novas is trash. The whole build relies on having all GR int rolls that can then get boosted by the spear. A regular staff with a GR int roll only gives you like 500 int and that’s if you hit it with masterworking.
Granted I’m only at 2700 int at the moment but I don’t seem to be having any problems with the novas not doing enough. Maybe the lightning spear enchant + splintered is compensating for me though.
Oh you’re using Splintering Energy with this? I am running Lighting Rod on the staff to help with boss damage which is the weakest point of the build. I also swapped out the recommended Ice Blades enchantment with the LS one because you generate so many orbs and have to pick them all up anyway so I figured might as well capitalize on the extra LSs, but I didn’t think to use Splintering Energy as well. I am gonna try that out, see if it helps.
Yes I am using Splintering Energy and HOPING it effects spears summoned by lightning spear enchant but I want to point out that since a content creator is not currently do this that I have seen, I am just HOPING. I have not figured out where the dummies are/tested this stuff/etc. If I am wrong and splintering does not work on crackling summoned spears, at least it is affecting my hard cast of lightning spear. Just trying to keep things 100% here.
Hoping it helps and looking forward to hearing back about your progress!
So on my Oculus adaptation of Ragegaming esadora: I also prioritize teleport damage and size. The oculus evade–> free teleport enchant Procs SOME things but not all and I switched teleport skill to do extra damage rather than Shimmering/damage reduction. I figure I get extra DR from evade/teleporting everywhere AND generating even more crackling. It’s super fun.
If/when I get a mythic spear, I’ll probably at least TRY that set up but I really don’t know if I’ll prefer it.
Needs another rework, why give it movement speed on picking up crackling energy…give it something interesting like ranks of Static Discharge, coursing currents etc.
