NMDs Are Way More Fun Than The Pit

I agree that something needs to be done about Glyph leveling, rail-roading into doing Pit runs is just an awful experience. It is made worse that you need to run higher levels of Pit than your Glyphs to insure successful upgrade. If one enjoys the Pit, the challenge, the race against the clock, and repeatedly doing Pit over and over I guess one is satisfied. I am not one of those. I find the Pit, and often NMDs to be boring.

At least with Obducite we have options beyond doing Horde. I wish they could just give options back for the Glyphs.

Interesting yes. Not sure how they manage that into balance or even if that’s important given the games current state.

Longevity wise that seems like a whole system redesign to me.

Would that be enough?

The pit shouldn’t have surprises (in terms of monster content) in my view. Putting a stacked butcher type mob, that potentially wipes the floor with you, because surprise, it’s a harder mob. Now if they did that and tied it to a surprise of 1-3 extra glyph upgrade chances that may be different.

But I don’t expect Blizzard to be that generous to players. Considering we get yellow drops and junk loot in t4. I would expect a chest with a piñata of stuff that would be deemed useless by most.

And considering the activity, surprise interactions (if you meant mob content) would not be fun if indeed you were pushing. However it would give a laugh to those who fished a map and got wiped in a not so good way.

There’s plenty they could do. But honest assessment is least work, what gets more MTX, and players fun factor is always last.

I don’t mind this so much. I do however mind that there is so many tile sets that involve back tracking. I don’t really even mind back tracking; but when its a long walk with no enemies to get one remaining objective. The slow pace hits me with a post nut clarity that makes me realize I don’t want farm anymore.

I agree, they need to put glyph leveling back to NMD and Pit should be optional as “difficulty” unlocker and minmax pushing activity.

Apples are more fun to eat than bananas!

It’s the only place that is fun imo.

Because there’s no reason to gear up to clear a NMD these things die almost instantly after hitting T4.

But The pit is the reason to gear up.

When we had nightmare dungeon tier 1-100 it wasn’t like that :disappointed:

I was hopeful for the s9 Nightmare Dungeons changes.

Nightmare Dungeons have so much potential and are a lot of fun. Despite being pretty pointless.

But of course, as usual, these devs fumbled. The dungeon updates are nothing. Just another disappointment in a long line of low effort disappointments.

Sadly I need to spend this evening grinding in the Pit to get glyphs up & get ready for T2 :frowning:

I feel the same. Part of the reason I haven’t played since expansion launch. I hate the pit. I dont mind the other content, but the pit to me is just not fun. I was fine with it in s6 because I was so OP that I could get my glyphs to 100 fairly fast and be done with it. Since then, they made it more pita if you can even get glyphs to 100 at all. If they put glyph xp into other content I would probably play again and never touch the pit. Its just boring. Pull group of mobs. Sit there facetanking for 2 mins. Pull next pack and repeat. Facetank boss 5 mins. Not my idea of fun.

I think early on the main complaints were NM dungeons were like the only thing to do and leveling felt like a slog because getting to 100 was slower and again… nm dungeons were the only thing to do. Also because most people didnt like the puzzles and having to back track through already cleared emptiness.

Me personally, I didn’t like the slog of leveling when it was the only content to really do so, but overall I like NM dungeons. Especially now that you can level in other things and there is variety. I can’t stand the pits though.

For me, I think people should be able to choose what content they like and advance in that content. Maybe they can keep things like pits are faster at leveling glyphs a little bit but you can still do glyphs in the other content. Same with everything else like NM dungeons can be fast for materials but you can still get them in pits. Etc. That would be my perfect world. That way I progress in all content but I can do the content I enjoy and so can everyone else.

I kind said this in the post above but, I would just let people earn advancement (materials, xp, glyph xp, etc) in whatever content they want to do. Each content type can do something specific faster than the other content but it should have some in every content type. Then people can just play the content they enjoy.

Like some people like the pits, they can do that. Some people like nm dungeons, they can do that. Some people like hordes, they can do that. Even whispers and helltides can all give a little of everything but a lot of something.

That would be my idea anyways.

Why is The Pit even called The Pit? There is no pit. There is no depth. Its just a mish mash of tiles with mobs.

I think the pit would be entirely more cool if instead of a stupid portal, you enter a building and make your way down deeper through a dungeon that gets more and more dank until you hit Hell and then you keep going down until you cant any more. Make each level give us more and more loot.

Right now its so dumb we go to Cerrigar and enter a greater rift and call it the pit. Nothing about the pit is fun right now. I think the whole idea needs a revamp.

What I most hate about the pit is that it seems to be all about killing enough mobs to summon the boss gate. So I’m constantly stressing because I don’t know how close I am to that point. Yes, we have a count-down timer, but it would be cool to know how many more we need to kill so that we have a better idea of how hard we need to push. Or something like that.

lol what op just said applies to the seasonal realm. low iq
majority want to stick to eternal realm so add seasonal journey rewards to it so we can have our fun.
funny that coal face

other than that yeah keep/make the game casual-friendly fun

There’s no reason to leave T1 in this game.

Nah.

Let’s rather get the game back that was released and all the people who should never have bought it in the first place go back to Fortnite.

I just started running NMDs today coz I wanted to do something other than HTs, IHs and The Undercity. I no longer have any reason to run the Pit coz all of my toons’ glyphs are at max and I needed to top off my Obducites and Distilled Fear.

I just remember the Pit being TOO tedious when ranking my glyphs and was SO glad when they were all max’d out.

It’s been a while since I ran NMDs and I’m actually surprised to find them to be more fun than the Pit. There are more variety in the maps with NMDs compared to the Pit. They are faster and I get more loot, gold, runes and mats.

So yeah, I agree with you, OP…for now at least until they fiddle around with NMDs to make them less fun or just as tedious as the Pit. :woman_shrugging:
