If you’re doing the kill streak leveling in D3 in Temple of the Firstborn it takes maybe 2 hours to get to 70. Then you can get your six piece from the season chapters and go straight to Torment 12-16 easy.
In D2 if you’re playing in a party it takes almost no time to get to NM baal and start farming XP up to 70-75. Should be farming Hell by day 2 if you’ve been playing a while. You don’t even need good gear. Can farm hell with Stealth, Lore, Spirit and rares/magic items.
Don’t believe me then add me on BNet and I’ll see you at the next ladder reset.
Took me about 12hrs on WT2 to reach 50 (Necro), focused on whispers and seasonal chapters - currently lvl 65 on WT4 and averaging 1hr per lvl while still focusing on whispers.
From my experience this seemed the quickest way to lvl and I felt like i was mucking around a lot.
What took you so long to realize there is nothing to do in D4 ? You roll a level 1 alt and go right into the same dungeons as a level 100, this is completely asinine design.
Completely agreed.
However, stuff like Lilith also shouldnt be balanced around lvl 100 then. While it usually is players fault that they think max lvl is the only thing that matters, it also sometimes is the devs that supports it with their design.
Yeah, and that is what should change. Lvl 100 should not be needed for anything.
Fun fact: level 100 isn’t really the max level. Level 50 is.
Level 100 is like being level 70 with 50 paragon levels in D3. Though if we were doing a proper comparison it’s more like level 70 with 200 paragon levels. And by the time you were level 70 you’d be doing Greater Rifts, which is what Nightmare Dungeons essentially are for D4.
And looking at paragon in particular, the vast majority of players in a given D3 season would not reach max paragon. Which I hadn’t even known there was a maximum until now.
The endgame of Diablo 2 was at +/- 80. You’d have finished the game and farm anything you liked. The highest level items and runewords in the game were around that level. Tyrael’s Might, possibly the rarest item in the game, was level 84. Most builds would be finished way before that.
After level 80 leveling up in D2 was more of a small perk of attributes and a skillpoint for doing your thing, which was farming more items. Endgame has always been about gear farming, not levels. This is where D4 implodes. Itemization is bloated, boring, unintuitive for most affixes, and has basically very little progress almost immediately after reaching ancestral items. Blizz apparently missed this very basic notion, considering how few uniques there are, how clunky and tedious they made the management of aspects (despite the core idea being cool) and how incredibly rare they made some uniques (despite there being no trading for them unlike D2) to the point where you just ignore that they exist.
In D4 the goal is “maxing your level”, because if it was “finding better items” you’d drop the game at level 75 or so, since you can go many hours without finding ONE useful item. In D2, you could have no personal upgrades, but you’d still get valuable items/runes to trade to other classes/ specs in that time.
Huh? 30hrs in the season you should belevel 70+ in T4. We are casuals and got to T4 on day 1@ lvl 50s with a 9 hr grind oppose pros which got to this stage at around 4 hrs.
I’ve been playing 4-5 hours a day on average since season start. Mostly solo sometimes in a group. At the moment I’m level 57. I was watching Wudijo on stream Thursday night. After 10-12 hours he was barely in the 50s. I don’t think anyone made it to 50 that fast.
He is hard core which means same level content always and hyper consertive. If you are soft core, you should always be killing mobs 10-20 levels higher than you. Sure bonus xp is capped @ 15% for +10 lvl mobs, but monster base xp is still higher per level. Ability to reach next difficulty asap is crucial - 20%/100%/200% more xp per WT. Advance ASAP. Don’t waste time perfecting gears.
Which was one of the problems with D2. Max level shouldn’t be this elite thing that most people never reach cause of the absurd amount of time it takes.
NM dungeons are easy. You sound like someone who used an xp exploit instead of playing the game. Now that you are in WT4 and you do not have glyphs leveled because you cheesed the exp grind. So it is hard.
You can’t start running NM dungeons until Wold Tier 3. As soon as I was in World Tier 3 at level 47 I started running Nightmare dungeons and leveling my glyphs.
Might be a bit of an old school take but the reason why it feels slow is because there is no difference between lvling and endgame, the line is blurred together. You are doing the so called endgame right from lvl 1. This feels like its taking long, because there is no progression aside from your lvls.
