New uniques already nerfed into trash tier before everyone even got to play it lol

yes we are though I have no idea what you said in the op

But honestly imo anything that becomes mandatory for everyone is bad.

I have a sus , ok I don’t have evidence so don’t quote me . Just my own conspiracy theory Ok,

SO I think S5 odd team originally designed these items for what they were. But after PTR feedback and all, Adam Jackson live team took over and knee jerked the nerf a bit too far LOL.

After all, it is the live team responsibility to balance and rebalance before they deliver it to live server.

But , again that is my own thinking, I have NO proof of this.

Is there a link to the official notes for these changes?

I think the only unique that truly got completely gutted is Crown of Lucion.

It went from God tier to absolute garbage in 99% of builds.

Old Effect:

  • Gain 75% Resource Cost Reduction.

Each time you spend Primary Resource on a Skill, you gain 25% increased damage but 25%[+] increased Resource costs for 4 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.

New Effect:

  • Power
    • Each time you use a Skill with a Resource Cost, gain [5-15]% increased damage and Resource Cost is increased by 30%[+] for 4 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.

Oh… They added to the original notes! So it was always intended to be in the patch and they “conveniently” forgot to mention all that red at the top of the notes during the stream yesterday?

Edit: I don’t blame them cause it would have been a trashfire with pitchforks and torches.

Wait, does the Resource Cost stack as well? If it doesn’t, that’s useable, (worse then Shako, but still useable until you get one) but if it does then that’s completely useless lol.

The resource cost reduction is completely gone. Now you essentially get a minor dmg buff (used to be more), I think it is 15X now, used to be 30 or 45X. But it’ll still cost a lot more resources from you.

The trade off is no more, you no longer get the resource cost reduction to mitigate that downside.

Meaning you will probably have to use starless if you really want to make use of Crown of Lucion to solve resource issue. But then, the minor dmg buff is not worth using anymore.

I mean does the +30% increased Cost go up with every stack still? Because if it does there’s no way in the world that’s worth it. 150% increase cost to cast a skill for an (at most) 75% damage increase?

Oh that is a good question, I am not sure I don’t think anyone been able to test it yet because the new version will be in S5 and S5 hasn’t launched LOL.

But good question.

Resource cost stacks.

So after 5 casts, your skills would cost 150% more resource to cast.

The old version also put a 0.75 modifier on the cost of casting (making initial casts cheaper) new version also removed that.

Yeah so like, Blizzard wants expects people to use like 100+ Fury/Mana/Whatever everytime they use a Core Skill? Or 65-ish Mana for a Basic Attack with Shard?

Do they just expect everyone to use a Starless Skies or whats going on here? And like, if your character is at the point where you are farming for Ubers then what’s stopping them from just using a Shako instead, which will probably just be better regardless? This entire item just feels useless now.

starless is def mandatory in that situation. But starless is mythic you probably won’t find one easily. So, most people will just auto vendor or salv Crown of Lucion from this point on.

On the bright side, it is a pretty sick looking helm lol, salv it for transmog !

Shako is miles and miles X10000000 times better is not even a question at this point. Especially, the reworked shako.

This is how I read it and pretty sure how it works.

The 150% cost could be anything that uses resource though. Could use an ability that barely costs, so 150% of little is still little and that ability is now doing 75% more damage for low cost.

Another option to theory craft is stack attack speed and spam low cost resource to get the 75% damage bonus and then use your heavy hitter once already at 75% damage bonus. The 75% damage increase just looks like a flat amount applied to you, not the ability used to generate it, so get the bonus cheaply and then switch.

My theory is that the helmet is now mainly for builds that utilise basic skills the most.

You stack the +75% damage quickly, using all your resource, you then switch to basic skills to take advantage of the +75% damage and recover your resource, you then just continue to alternate between them.

I can’t think of any build that can keep up with a 2.5x resource requirement, unless you have Starless I guess.

In all fairness though we wont know how these changes will run until S5 is live. So, wait and see I guess.

I was reminded of this back when Classic WOW released. All I heard was how hard the game use to be and you needed REAL skill to beat the hardest content in Vanilla WOW…until the first raid boss was beaten very quickly. And that was a world first boss that took many months to be defeated 15 years earlier. That’s because when WOW first released, you didn’t have youtube, there was no streamers and info online was sparse. It just shows how much the game has changed how hard it is to make content that isn’t gobbled up within hours because all the secrets are known before the game even launches.

It wouldn’t be worth it for basic skill builds. Shard of Verathiel will trump the helmet and you won’t want to use both at the same time.

I’m thinking something like, for Necros, spam Decrepify and/or Iron Maiden to cheaply build up the 75%, and then cast Bone Spirit consuming all your essence doing 75% more damage.

Shame. Another season of Shako.

Maybe thats why they needed rebalancing. They were to powerful and overshadowed everything else. Thats why PTRs exist.
