Am I alone in thinking the new uber boss designs are not necessary?
The fun of an ARPG is 1shotting things. I don’t think many people play ARPGs for raid boss content.
That’s what MMOs are for.
Edit:
I don’t mind a bit of difficult mechanics, but I genuinely hate the ‘immunity’ phases. It completely kills the ARPG feel.

not for me. Having no difficulty at all makes the game a snoozefest.

That’s what pushing pits and whatnot is for though. There should be infinitely scaling content, I don’t think uber bosses should be one though.

Uber Bosses? i think it’s fine for them not to be one shot fests…they are the pinnacle bosses and at least require some knowledge\mastery of the game/encounter vs being able to overgear something

This is not in alignment with the devs’ opinion. You can stick to your guns all day but the current state of the game makes you wrong.

don’t mind difficult fights - but forced immunity periods etc is a big no no…design decent fights, nit cheap tricks to prolong the fight.

This is a generational shift as far as I can tell, but maybe this has always been an argument between ARPG players. Blasting is not the way I like to play because it gets boring very quickly and trivializes everything. That said, I’m willing to meet people halfway and say that the way to make bosses into more engaging fights is not to give them several phases with invulnerability windows. The proper way is to actually balance a game so that you don’t have one build doing 1000x the damage of another. When that’s off the table, one-shots can be removed without making other weak builds or classes absolutely useless. Blizzard will NOT get this right though, which means that less ideal solutions will likely remain in place.

Id agree with you there. as on the current state tho, invulnerability phases are basically the only way to apply forced mechanics tho.
IMO, they should allow DOT damage to continue to tick during those moments where you cannot hit them directly to give those builds an application in end game encounters.
Currently, because they are still balancing the classes and some builds are able to do so much damage quickly, these phases reward those that learn the encounter and don’t punish builds that have less damage. If you are pushing the boss to the next phase in one hit or so…you are still skipping a lot of the fight with the power of your character compared to another player with lower DPS
This is what I meant by my post - perhaps I should have phased it better. I don’t like the pure immunity to damage.
Spoiler: they aren’t that hard. You can legit struggle vs Echo of Lilith though. Dodging her moves is very tricky.
Shall we sit and count how many games have failed (Blizzard and otherwise) until they learned that their general perspective makes people not want to play their games?
Most of the changes they make, unless due to general outcry, are negative for the game. This is one of them.
To recap, the player’s expectations are more important than the game developer’s vision. Have whatever vision you want, but until you get paid for it, it’s garbage.
These changes drive people away more than lure them in.

and when it comes to this, if one needs help, and isnt an obvious troll, he can hit me up <3
yea, the easiness of d4, especially in s7, has made me not want to play their game.
For some reason i do have a feeling that the loudest people here are the ones that dont want to play anyway. Or at max for 2-3 days.

I just don’t understand why they want to slowdown the gameplay. Making uber bosses take 3-4 minutes to kill just seems unnecessary. This isn’t an MMORPG. It’s an ARPG, no combat is supposed to last that long.

It is absolutely fine to have different views on that for that matter. It is a problem in my opinion if a boss doesnt have any difference to a regular mob, except for its loot.
This has been the case for all these seasons.
That has nothing to do with an mmorpg. Theres also no shame to drop a torment tier. Heck, today i dropped to t3 just cause i didnt want to do t4 as im too low on max health currently.
Again, loot quality doesnt differ between the torment tiers. If stuff is too rough, drop a tier.

Id agree with this if D4 had boss loot tables like D2. Itemization is aweful and smart loot…
Without interesting loot or rare items its a plus having to see some boss mechanics.

fair actually. if stuff was rare, yea, sure, thatd be annoying then right now. But heck, People are complaing about “terrible boss drop rates” on day 3 of the season. How many seasons in a row has your stash been full of mythic uniques by now my friend?
Ive had to start salavging mythics because I ran out of room on eternal to horde them.
i still laugh when i remember that one dude who accused you of rmting here lmao.
i mean sure, you are on the lucky side of rng thats for sure, but its really not uncommon to get many mythics.
Yep. Blizzard really clogged their own toilet with season 6 Spiritborn. Now 1 shotting things for 3 months straight is considered “fun”.
Good job Blizzard!
