New survey about p2w options?

At the rate blizzard is dragging their feet with more stash space if we expect it for free we will still be waiting in 2030…

If paying for the dang stash space means i get it “now” i rather just pay for it.

Blizzard gamers have such a bizarre, absolutist view of what P2W is, never encountered this in other gaming communities. IMO, the only thing that’s truly P2W is if RMT items that can’t be acquired with in game resources, provide a direct power advantage.

Most of what people in the Diablo/WoW communities refer to as P2W, is actually Pay 2 Avoid Grind, or pay 4 convenience.

If you can still arrive at the same spot via grinding, or the RMT items just make your experience more enjoyable without adding power at all, there’s some mental contortions going on to label that P2W.

how is able to store more items “pay 2 win”? what good is a stored item in the bank? i dont see that stat on my character sheet… stored item ahh yes right under overpower damage… yeah, got it, each stored item is multi-10x more overpower damage… ahh yes, you are right storing items is a complete pay2win…

lol

QoL is not P2W… also, if they can offer more storage at a price, that tosses out the whole, we cant add more storage since it will lag the system, or will they more you to a real server if you buy said storage and not lag out?

p2w =
a flaming sword that does +damage even if its only 1extra hp of burn

not p2w =
a sword with a flame effect that doesnt do anything except has a firery effect (maybe might light the dark corners of a room up)… oh wait, thats a pay to win…

Yikes… this is absolutely the best news I could of heard. Fuel the fire! Burn it down!

So when Blizzard said they would never make D4 P2W, they lied, again? :scream_cat:
Nobody ever saw that coming!

@ Subdriver

By that logic, then why do you care if they add a shako to the store in this single player game that resets every 3 months? It’s not p2w - it’s just time saving.

It would save time to the people who don’t care to run duriel and you will still happily find yours after a couple hundred runs. No one will win anything and you won’t lose anything ^_^. Not sure why yall put up such a stink about the AH in d3 either.

There are only two types of RMTs. Ones that have no effect on gameplay and those that do make it faster/easier in some way. Trying to draw a subjective 2nd line in the latter is just individual bias - everyone can draw those silly lines.

It’s funny but expected that Blizzard is now trying to toe the line evermore after initially being so in denial against it. I think if they could sell items directly without getting raged at, they happily would at this point… the level of RMT in this game is silly.

I’ve been saying this since release. Give players what they want.

Instead, they keep releasing these god awful patches that destroy the game for everyone. What they should have done, is launch the game with ways for players to lvl faster or even release a farm bot for players that are into that thing.

I do not give a flying F for p2w in this game as long as the base game is fair and fun. But, with multiple buggy builds that break the game and trivialize the content, unfair party XP gains and in general party farming, it’s not, so… yeah.

It will never be a fair game.

LOL, irrelevant because they are not adding uber uniques to the store. People always jump to outlandish examples when their logic fails. :joy:

Well, don’t blame me if I did because it wasn’t clear at all. I had to make assumptions based on what you wrote.

That expectation isn’t bad but I don’t expect it. Just because something is expensive doesn’t mean you should get other things for free. It would be great if it did but realistically that’s not how things work.

The fact that D4 has stash problems is indeed a sign of bad programming. They admitted that already and are working on that.

I agree but please don’t refer to all Blizzard gamers because not all Blizzard gamers share this view of p2w.

Any proof or just lame rumors?? New account, one post, going to guess somebody got caught and is now trying to smear blizz (hint they dont need help). Go away though

Edit: also going to add this tool doesnt know the definition of P2W like most of the whiners that toss that term around freely

Then how about the concept of pay to have a complete game? The fact they don’t know how to program stash should not be on the players to finance. Look at the other games of this type. The only ones charging for stash are F2P to begin with.

Very specific and credible way to start your thread.

It looks like they are testing features and pricing for premium/deluxe/collector’s/whatever editions of the expansion. I’m not too keen on the sale of stash tabs or the companion but the rest seems like standard whale edition stuff.

Nothing to get too riled up about, imo.

Your example here is P2W.
In D:I where you can either farm for 120 years, or buy the gem with money, that literally is what P2W means.

It depends on the circumstances.
“Time is money”. Time is power. If you can save a bunch of time due to extra stash space, it can be P2W. This mostly happens in a game like PoE where they added all kinds of currencies, and then added specific stashes for those currencies, to give people an incentive to buy stash space. It is a time saver to have those.
If you already have a 1000 stash space slots, and the devs sell you stash slot number 1001, yeah not exactly P2W.

Another example of how the same thing can be P2W or not, based on context, is character slots.
In D4, selling character slots would not really be P2W. While going from 1 to 2 characters can be an advantage, going from 10 to 11 is not really any advantage.
But then you have Lost Ark, where having more alts directly translates to more power, which makes selling character slots P2W in that game.

didn’t they say they can’t give us more stash space because your whole stash gets loaded when viewed, but now they turn around and want to sell you more stash space?

Shouldn’t have to pay jack squat for a base $70 game…

Are they trying to lose their playerbase?
Pay money for gold and items to be used in game?
Hell no! I’ll uninstall if that happens.

Pay to win is a losing strategy.
