How does everyone feel about the new season? I looked at the youtube trailer and was very unimpressed. and uninspired. Seeing a video verses playing the game are two different things. I will give it a chance - I love the addition to new enemies and mechanics I just hope things don’t get too cluttered. As if we need more things to manage and more synergies to craft.
Begin Rant - It feels like there are 2 sets of players out there. The ones that just play and kill things, and the type that like to push to see how far they can go. The differences between the two are staggering. 1 seems to be content with just letting off steam, while the other wants access to all of the games content immediately. I used to feel that i was a good player. I enjoyed the game. Season 2 ball lighting sorc had me feeling good. Until I followed a build planner from icy veins and went from 40,000 damage to 2 million. I questioned my whole existence like… what was i even doing? I went from dungeon crawling at low levels to boss killer. Each season i am trying to get my character to a level where If i can kill a top boss, then I know my character as access to all content. I could never do a pit 150, my sorc was stuck at 105, doing 70 mil damage and it took forever. But I felt I was in a better place then where I came from. My spirit born could only do 130 - and not consistently. I know I’m not good, but I am better off then were I was and feel like I have access to wherever I want to go in the game.
It feels like the dev’s make this game for the 1st type of player. They never really show what the possibilities are. But they bake in secrets for type 2 players to stretch their legs a bit and try breaking the game.
I don’t like how they correlate difficulty with health bar. as if its the only way to measure a hard boss, or unavoidable damage and one shots. I feel they need to spend more time into what hard means. If you are physically strong enough “Spirit Born” you never have to encounter any challenging mechanics. It does not make you good. just strong. You can be weak, and able to dodge and perceive upcoming mechanics and do a great job to the point where 90% of your time is being skill-full until you are one shot & killed.
It feels like they are not measuring skillfulness appropriately. I would like a new season filled with balance issues - where a player is rewarded for using all the tools at their disposal. Last season when using SB, health and mana potions seemed obsolete. I could win with pressing 2 or 3 buttons and stake around like a lunatic. The only skill used was the direction i pointed myself in. That is at the heart of my whole beef with this game. If they could just fix that and get their characters on an even field where they all have the potential to access all game content. We’d be all good.

Tbh PoE2 will cater for the 2nd type of player while diablo can focus on the player that logs in for ave of 2 hrs per week to smash some monsters and let off some steam.
Both games can coexist for different audience’s and both will make lots of money for their respective markets.
For those that finished the campaign, cleared pit 150 and reached paragon 300, they can actually quit until the next expansion and play something else as they have achieved everything important in the current version of the game.

The reveal certainly feels half-arsed.
At this point, it honestly just feels like it’s a “Good morning, team. The brunt of the money has already been made. Let’s put out full-time staff on our new project and get Sally and Cody from Customer Service to continue with the updates.”

Yea but not from me. I can’t scan all the previous posts in the forum. If it’s not on the top 10 then it’s never been said!
There will be a few more before the season hits, guaranteed. It’s the nature of these forums for people not to add to current topics, but rather make their own in hopes their voice gets heard amongst the hundred or so posters on here.

accurate - The rest of this message is me having to fill the screen with over 20 characters:)
You can use the code
It’ll show up as if you hit spacebar a few times. It fills in the needed requirements of 20 chars.
So your:
accurate Can look like this instead with multiple spaces.
The more you know.
I mean without the preformatted tags around it.

There’s another. The player than enjoys progression. For me that starts at level 1. But Blizz has sped that up thereby taking it away leveling progression. Ok, so I’m on to Penitent → T4 progression. But Blizz has sped that up with more power creep, thereby taking some of that progression away. So now I’m left with Pit progression and I dislike the whole game being reduced down to the pit. I guess you can include paragon 300 but when T4 becomes trival oneshotting I lose interest in chasing p300.
I’ll play the season. Screw spritborn though, I’m going back to druid and want the raven pet to go with it. I would have felt better about the season had they given back the mindcages. With the armory, I would have thought they’d have brought back the gauntlet. I would have min/maxed a build for it with armory.

Looking forward to S7. Playing a class I’ve never played. (Barb) Don’t care if the witch stuff is recycled… I came back at S6 and never played the vampire stuff from S2.
People that want to play POE2 should just go play it and quit posting in D4 forums.

Sometimes you could even post several times the exact same words in a single thread because the discussion keeps shifting from the original topic. Many don’t start reading from the top but just provide feedback to the latest post…I admit I also do it.
Yes, builds doing 150 like necromancer’s blood wave and incinerate don’t go beyond 80. I don’t know why this difference. D4 is getting discouraging. Poe 2 doesn’t seem very direct to me either. I still think it lacks a good ARPG.
I do not mean this to sound like I am attacking the OP, I merely wish to highlight something. Sad reality in this game, there are two types of players. I can give another definition. Type 1 just wants to play a game, and Type 2 goes to 3rd party sites to find build guides to maximize their characters proficiency.
This highlights to me what is a significant failure in the design and core mechanics of this game. Type 1 does not have the ability as it is not provided by the game to determine if item A is better than B, if Skill X is better than Y. This whole mess began in my opinion with D3 which boiled things down to you do X damage, but Y will be critical if you have Z percent, but you will need to figure this out by yourself.
OK fine, but then we got to D4, and the intro of damage buckets? Vast majority of players do not know what their character is doing. Far too high a percentage are going to websites to follow guides. Their character is not their creation, it is someone else’s. They are just renting it for the season.

It’s a mega company owned by shareholders. Any gestures of good will are motivated purely by greed at the highest levels and fear of administration at mid levels.

Season 7 looks fun but the hype is dead. Im worried about the season now. I really hate them releasing multiple items for the same build in the same slot. Why torture us with this?

Can we quit this elitist garbage?
I mean where do people who play spreadsheet games get the balls to talk about pushing limits? You just stack numbers. The higher then number the further you get. That’s it. That’s the whole game.
You’re not playing Dance Dance Revolution or something which requires physical ability!
