New Scroll (consumable)

Properties:

  • Consume a greater affix on an item to reroll the stats
  • Works also on legacy items, increases the item power to match the current itemization, transforms uniques into the latest version
  • Rare drop

Benefits:

  • Legacy items can be turned into lottery tickets
  • Softens the powercreep (Legacy items become more powerful, but their relative quality is degraded)
  • Makes players less angery after itemization rework
  • Players who already rage quit Diablo 4 forever after their gear was rendered useless might actually come back and try their luck
  • Something to chase for

Other:

  • This is also fair for new players who don’t own legacy items because a rerolled item cannot have perfect stats. (4GA item turns into a 3GA item.)
  • Suggested internal codename: “Scroll of Doggo of Shobbo”

You’re forgetting the fact Legacy items were reduced to 550 item level. So this scroll wouldn’t work on them regardless. Even if they did, highly doubtful people would come back just to use them on crappy 550 items.

Here’s a visualization:

The time and effort won’t generate enough revenue to be worth it.

Just a reminder of a few recent things.

5 patches to fix a ring that ended up breaking a glyph that was ignored for a few months.

The new flagship battlepass was released that needed an immediate patch.

The PTR did not include new uniques in the cache.

Anything over 5 necro mages would despawn when you ported anywhere in the PTR when wearing the new gloves.

Unless this new scroll is obtained through the cash shop no one is competent enough to make it happen.

Nice hat. :+1:

Also, I think that’s what you were describing in the 2nd bullet point:

But visuals do help in the twittertiktokinstagram age.

Ah I see. Well good luck with that.

All those “legacy” items, i just dumped them. The season incoming refresh replenished that junk.

Which AI bot is that?

This is the only drawback I can think of. If somone who plays Eternal already salvaged their 4GA items they might get angery if this new scroll was introduced.

So now we need AI to tell us something obvious.

AI won’t take over by force. Humanity will gladly give it away.

I look forward to our AI overlords taking over.

I doubt it will be any worse than what we have now.
