New Patch - can not even teleport to another city now

Immediate disconnect upon teleporting to another city.

What can a player actually do to solve this problem? The streamers are streaming, what is going on???

Do you have the game installed on a hard drive or a solid state drive?

It and all my games are installed on a solid state drive. All my other games (Blizzard games included) play fine. (I can play Overwatch on Max settings)

That has nothing to do with disconnecting…

Well tell that to the people that changed their install from an hdd to an ssd and it fixed their issue…

and that would be nobody… You do not understand how a computer works. If it was an issue with SSD/HDD, the game would crash or hang. It wouldn’t disconnect.

Tell it to the players near the bottom of this thread: Disconnect while attempting to teleport - after patch 1.1.1 - #19 by smellsmoose-1414

where they said it did fix their issue:

I am using an SSD drive.

I have for the last hour or so, been unable to either teleport to another city, and even if I do get a teleport, I have been unable to enter dungeons. The game crashes and will send me back to the city I traveled from to get to the dungeon, it will sometimes reset me back to the major city of the region I was in, regardless of whether or not I was recently in that city.

This is NOT my system.

Maybe @SteLitY-2790 can help you with your issue. They are clearly the computer expert in this forum.

OK… an even newer patch has just been released. lets see how that works.

I’m in the Lobby for 5 min now…waiting for the game…

yup. same thing … still in que

Never mind, just got dumped from 5 plus minute que… now queuing up again.

Ok… in game… unable to move or do any action.

Alright, approximately 10 minutes… after long queue to get in, unable to move and finally disconnected from game…

To be fair, it has helped a few people that were having issues a couple weeks ago.

However, it wasn’t fixing the problem for everyone in the thread nor is it a fix that would say cures the problem, since obviously it doesn’t affect most. It was just something to check for.

That said.

I do still maintain there is a correlation between system performance and game timings revolving around teleporting, among other problems people have had.

But to point at any one thing specifically and say “Eureka” I can’t yet.

At this point in time, the only suggestions I will make (aside from using an SSD over HDD, which for some reason some still were) is:

  • Shutting down other running programs.
  • Don’t leave any browsers open.
  • Restarting the desktop properly (that is, using RESTART, not sleep, hibernate, or shut down)
  • Making sure the launcher is updated and NOT on the beta version.
  • Set the launcher to exit when the game launches.
  • Make sure to remove any Razer software and disable the in-game Peripheral Lighting. If not able to get into the game, go to the LocalPrefs file for the game and set the ChomaEffects to “0”
  • You can also try to rename the LocalPrefs file to reset to defaults. This is found under Documents\Diablo IV
  • GPU drivers. Make sure they are updated. If updated, remove the extra software. Geforce Experience for Nvida, or Adrenaline for AMD.
  • Roll back the drivers to an older version. Preferably, uninstall the current driver and download an older version and install it. (I’m still using 535.98 for my 3070Ti)
  • Force a lower resolution for the game. You can do this manually with the above LocalPrefs file. Sometimes it crashes when at the native resolution. If you can run it at a lower res, it may work fine windowed. Once in, make sure the FPS cap is set to no higher than 100FPS but start at 60FPS. Then you can change the resolution back to a normal setting again.

Some ideas to try.

Good luck.

You are NOT an expert as well. Disconnects when teleporting should NOT depend on the storage device you have D4 installed on.

Not to mention I have an SSD and a few weeks ago I had constant disconnects when trying to teleport back into town. Many people had the same issue. So they all used HDD instead of SSD? Like I said I used and am still using an SSD.

The posts that you linked were from months ago. My constant disconnects (from before) went away after they made some patches. Again, I’m still using the same SSD.

So switching to SSD maybe sound workaround but that’s not the fix.

The real issue is blizzard/servers.

Well I know of at least 3 that did actually, but again, its a solution in that it helped a performance hindrance. Not an actual fix.

So don’t be so judgemental. It did address an issue for some. And the game clearly lists SSDs as a requirement. Keep in mind, not all systems have spacious SSDs installed. lol

Anyway.

As far as you know.

Mine plays perfectly fine. No issues at all. Is it my system? Is it my internet? Is the servers?

Hell if I know. But there it is.

Game is extremely laggy and rubberbanding right now. Thought it was specific to a town or area, nope happening across more and more now.

been getting 1.2k ping since update

I never claimed to be an expert. Was just trying to provide a solution from what others said had worked for them.

And the dude put me on blast saying that it isn’t how computers work and no one has ever had that solution work (which I proved wrong and then he evaporated faster than boiled water).
