I know that the game needs to be PC (Politically Correct). However, one size fits all doesn’t make it PC. I know some druids are skinny, super skinny as if they have been studying the earth for a very long time and live off nothing but the dew of a ginkgo leaf. The druids’ size in this game can be considered an insult. Heck, the old crone in the druid storyline of the campaign is a twig. Also, look at the metrics of how many players play Druid and only choose the male character. Consider why that is.
I’m fat in real life, I don’t want to be fat in the game. I mean seriously … did you really have a panel of players who actually said, hey, let’s make the female druid overweight, that would be cool.
I doubt it.
As for Barbarians, Red Sonja wasn’t a muscle-bound female warrior. Although some of the female barbarian faces do look like some of my real-life friends, I would like to play an edgy, fit Barbarian who isn’t so … bulky.
And Necromancers, super skinny, really? Sure, some people love that edgy look. However, wouldn’t it be cool if the characters, at least the female side, don’t all look like cra–, uh, I mean, like they have a drug addiction?
Anyway, food for thought. A lot of companies have this kind of customization.
No it does not. This is a grim and dark middleage fantasy game. It does not have to be PC.
The male druid does not look too unhealthy. Yea he is meaty but has a lot of muscles and kinda looks a bit like a Sumo wrestler who are very athletic people. The female Druid however looks just obese and unhealthy.
Barbarians are all about “Raw” power. I agree a druid can work with or without muscles, fat or skinny, but a barbarian not. If he/she aint got muscles it aint a barbarian.
I understand that character locks simplifies this type of game. Still, it would be fun to have a unique looking character that is not formed from presets, limited presets that is.
The game would have to be designed from the ground up to incorporate variable meshes. The only gear based game that did this successfully that I know of was Aion.
Most ARPG are locked. MMORPGs have more range but ARPG don’t have the size variety that I have seen. Marvel Heroes was a perfect example: Tons of Heroes and costumes. Size and Gender locked to that character.
There is no discernable way to actually know the sexual orientation of the different “body types”.
Especially the Necromancer.
I do not care though, as the characters are too far away to tell the difference. And I watch youtube on my other display during load screens.
