New gems for sorc

So gem that is supposed to be the best for sorcs will turn 1 fireball or 1 blizzard etc into 4 and take just as much mana as if you cast all 4…how is this even a buff? Unless you are trying to 1 shot someone in pvp? Cause 1 thing a sorc never had a problem doing was spending all its mana lol

But but… The 3-5% increase damage is gonna be build defining :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Wondering if these are the bottom values of the gems and they will increase with upgrades/ I level of the gem?

I believe the phrase you meant was not ‘build defining’ but ‘mind rending’.

Blizzard is a Mastery skill, Omnipower doesn’t work with it.

It’s a way to avoid attack speed for scaling, which can be decent.

It’s a buff you somehow manage to get mana capped and regenerate more than you can use. :upside_down_face:

I think the key for this Malignant hearth will be the combination of:

Elementalist’s Aspec

Core or Mastery Skills cast at or above 100 Mana gain a (XX)% increased Critical Strike Chance.

Various Passives:

Elemental Attunement

Lucky Hit: Critical Strikes have a XX% chance to reset the Cooldown of one of your Defensive Skills. Can only happen once every 10 seconds.

Elemental Dominance

Your Core Skills deal XX% increased damage when cast above 50 Mana.

Mana Shield

Every time you spend 100 Mana, you gain XX% Damage Reduction for 5 seconds.

Lucky hit related mechanics:
Fist of Fates, Life/Mana regeneration upon a hit.
Further it will remove the need for mana reduction affixes as the Malignant heath already determine how much mana you will spend (unless mana reduction will also effect its stats as well).

I’m looking forward to test this with either: Fire Ball, Frozen Orb, Ice Shards, Chain Lightning, Charged Bolts or Ball of Lightning (Mastery Spell).

Edit:
Big question also is how Potent warding works, if it is additive (and might have impact).

After casting a Non-Basic Skill, you gain 2% Resistance to all elements and 1% additional Resistance to that Skill’s element for 9 seconds.

Edit 2:
For Cold spells, Frigid Breeze can be excellent source of mana replenishment if the extra casts provide Lucky hit (they should).

Lucky Hit: Cold Damage against Vulnerable enemies has a 20% chance to generate XX Mana.

Edit3:
Can’t believe I forgot Edge Master:

Skills deal up to (XX)% increased damage based on your available Primary Resource when cast, receiving the maximum benefit while you have full Primary Resource.

Makes me wonder if this works through casts that Unstable Currents do like some other passives do.

Various shock skills also have damage reduction options built into them, it might help with our survival in general, although it require you to hit the enemy first, at least you can do it from range.

I do see issues with suppressor elites or the teleporting ones, but ways to mitigate it can be found.

other classes increased dmg is at least 2 digits.

sorc is 3-5%… omg… trying to ridiculate us?

nerf our passive 30% crit dmg while other classes has a few hundred crit dmg bonus when… what the…

We have Sorcerer specific aspects and passives benefits, while you cast your skill with full Mana (or at least above 100).

Link to a fireball build I’m trying to come up with, (didn’t do the Paragon board yet).

First version of a fireball build (Omnipower/Lucky Hit/Critical Hit based/No Vulnerability at the moment).

Resistances do not work.
I’ve had 90% poison resist and it still destroyed me like I had 0%. Had to guzzle 7 health pots to not die.

You had 90% poison resist from items? or 90% resist in your character information sheet?
Because the later isn’t possible it is capped at 85%.

From what I know, Resistance work however it has scaling issues, in world tier 4 due to how resistance is calculated from Armor, item affixes and Int scales poorly and effectively reach 25% or so only.

Which is why I wonder if Potent warding is additive, because if it is, it might have actual effect.

There was a quest somewhere out west in Kejistan that gave me a recipe to make +50% poison resist elixers.

Actually, if you have worked your cost for Fireball down beneath 35 mana, it will take more mana per Fireball.

Cheers!

Seems like a perfect power for Sorc then!
