New details for VoH systems

Interview Rob did with some of the devs at gamescon.

Dark citadel will be a multi hour dungeon. To unlock it you must have completed pit 15-20ish. The torment system will scale difficulty.

13 cat mounts and armors will be findable in game. And more transmogs you can get outside of the store.

Um… what? Not sure how that’s going to work, guessing it saves our progress, or do they mean as in ā€˜hours of fun for the whole family!’ type of deals? I’ll watch the video in a bit, maybe it already answered this question.

Yea there are check points you can come back to it says.

I like that it is a long dungeon.
Been arguing for Diablo 1 style mega-dungeons in the game after all. 10+ hour dungeons would be lovely (with a checkpoint system of course).

However, none of this really matters if the dungeons require a group.

Yea I was hoping to hear it could be done with mercs. They did say solo players can add a merc to their party again but didn’t connect the dots.

More stuff that makes me stay away from this expansion. Basically confirming they spent most time in creating bosses and content for groups and leaving solo ARPGers with same crap. No thank you.

What the heck. You cant equip gear on the mercs?
That is crazy. As in bad.
So close, and yet so far.

Mercs was the one thing I was interested in for VoH.

Also sounds like they will be weak, and merely buff bots.
This truly is D3 all over again.

Edit:
Did they seriously add torment levels too?
:see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil:

ā€œNMD, Whispers etc. unlocked from the start of the gameā€
That is positive at least, been argued for that forever. Stop having a hard separation between Game and Endgame.

They should definitely talk about that on 29th because it might turn out to be a huge problem. Imagine you play with randoms, because party play is a must for the dungeon, then you quit after the checkpoint. Then what? You find another group on the next day with different progression? How is that gonna work?

Let’s just say the following:

I hope that the new progression system is also available in the original game so I’m able to experience/test it on my own and then make the decision whether or not to buy the exp.

So far it looks interesting (and promising) but not yet sold

I’m not sure they will on the 29th as it sounds like it’s aimed at base game changes and not VoH.

I imagine they will scale with player just like pets, combined with their skill tree. Torment levels were already a given based on the party finder pic in the blog.

Agreed now this brings up another question I have. Since it’s required grouping and there will be checkpoints. What happens when your group calls it for the day, but you want to keep going? Are you locked into that particular instance with the people you grouped with? Or are you just now locked to that spot, and have to find other people that are also up to that spot?

In other words I go in with 1 friend. We get to checkpoint C. My friend leaves. I want to keep going. Do I have to find others at checkpoint C or can I just invite some random guy and skip him to checkpoint C? Will I have to start over?

This just opened up a whole new can of worms.

Yeah as it was already said then:

That’s where I am as well. If they don’t elaborate on such important things, it will just delay the sells.

Werent they claiming vanilla and VoH players can play together? So they would have to use the same lvling system.

Haven’t read any blogs. Sad news even if they are not new news, in any case :frowning:
Depends on implementation of course, but the words used in the video makes it sound bad (smooth difficulty experience yada yada). A difficulty experience should not be smooth. That is not difficulty.

Sanctuaries state is based on party leader. Probally same with raid. If you made it to tier 3, and you are party leader, you can enter up to 3.

That video really is something.

First world problems in A-RPGs:
ā€œSo much loot is dropping that the game wont allow more loot on the ground, because I am weird and refuse to pick up the loot, and people have lost ubers because of thatā€ (paraphrasing).
Dear lord…

 Did Rob really say that? Essentially of course, I know you’re paraphrasing, but that’s hilarious. I mean if you didn’t play the game like it was being shutdown within the next hour maybe you wouldn’t have these problems.

Yeah, pugging a multi-hour dungeon is going to go oh so well. WTF were these guys thinking?

What you expect from these devs? That they can actually think things through before they screw em up? We have been playing D4 for a year now so we should know

But ye… this happened alot on Lost Ark and usually ends up having players sitting infront of the groupfinder for hours, rather than playing the game. And this is exactly why I’m NOT buying this expansion.

Do you still need them to tattoo it on their forehead?
