I think we need an old fashion knight class or a enchantment knight, heavy armor two handed wielder for dps or sword and shield for tank builds. Most gaming companys making games now have strayed so far from th basics please bring a knight class to the game
Relax it will come⦠we pretty much know the next class will be a holy warrior class. Only question will be what the dlc release cadence will be like.
Agreed, i just wanna play a heavy armor 2 handed sword warrior, thatās it
Theres already one planned, the pic was leaked a while back.
Shield and Spear.
I think Shaman and Exorcist could cover a lot of ground as classes. Exorcist could be like a melee caster hybrid and Shaman could be a summoner who uses elemental and undead magic. I think it would be cool to release those two classes with and have them have amazing coop synergies.
Exorcist having powerful CC, Debuff, and melee skills.
Shaman having a summons that posess and bomb spells that do DoT.
Both would be spirit/possession themed but with a different hybridization. Maybe slight thematic implications towards Inarius vs Lilith.
These are both actually really cool class ideas. Iāve never heard either mentioned before. I think they would work in D4 because they are in line with the ādarkerā approach this game is going for. Plus both exorcists and shaman were present during the Dark Ages IRL.
Oh exorcist. Never heard of that before. Very neat! How about it can exorcise a demon and can then be used temporarily to fight for you? I know that would be similar to necromancer but maybe they can make it in some type of unique way. Even if its just exorcise demon to kill it.
I did consider how these would need to be different from necro. The exorcist could lean into the finisher mechanic, having angelic chains that yoink mobs into pocket dimensions (like chains from the ground pulling them into a hellish abyss) possibly getting a soul gem resource on finishers that can work like combo points for things like using the activation of a passive damaging aura to do AoEs or powering single target abilities.
I mean⦠shouldnt the game release before you can argue something thats not already in it is something thats needed?
Now⦠āId like a new class added that we havent seen beforeā would be a valid discussion, but saying anything is NEEDED before release doesnt hold water.
A throw back to the warrior from original diablo would be welcomed, for sure want a strong melee class that isnāt a barbarian or holy crusader for a change of pace and style.
Happy to have them in the game of course.
Itās a fun topic and likely what the devs are approaching on the back end. So throwing ideas out there might be heard. But I agree, the title was probably not the absolute best.
Iād like to see a Cultist class. Remember those guys in robes from Diablo 3? āTo me, you beasts! Let none touch me!ā
He could have access to dark magic that even the necro wouldnāt touch. Perhaps summoning Lovecraftian cosmic horrors, or the like.
When you imagine a new class you have to consider what special class related weapon, spell or gameplay mechanic would you give to them.
We had spells (skills) in the following cathegories in the past: blood, bone, poison, air, earth, fire, ice, lighting, shadow/smoke plus auras, warcries, curses.
Which weapon types are not covered currently in Diablo IV and which new class should get them? Shields for Paladins? Javelins for Amazons? Claws for Assassins? etc.
And all new classes should have 3-3 areas where a skill tree could be extended to give enough variety for players.
So here are my class related ideas :
- Bard / Illusionist
- using holy musical instruments (like drum, harp, flute or ukulele ) to control humans or to hurt demons (similar to warcries or curses, but some monsters must be immune for audio spells)
- creating confusing and deadly illusions with air/shadow magic projectiles (like disappearing in smokes, duplicate himself, project his voice or instrumentās music somewhere else on battlefield)
- reanimate wooden muppets or harlequins which can serve him as pet
- can create / program musical boxes which melody can influence humans and monsters
- can use a magical dice (luck related skills like critical strike or to get better prices at trading) or cards (like air magic shield) or maybe a rabbit/dove for some other tricks (like at chest opening)
- master of throwing weapons
- Jewellrist / Alchemist
- create jewellries (like amulets, rings, tiaras) with class specific new gems which resonance can release trapped magical energies or spell charges
- can trap souls into gems / spheres which will serve him as familiars
- master of chrystal resonancy and magnetic vibrations which can influence metal weapons and armors (enemies will drop them as they heated up, melted, turned into some other material)
- transform materials (like weapon types, armours)
- glass / mirror projectiles (earth magic)
- uses the combined gem energies of his items as weapons
- Runeologist / Rune Mage (like the Occultist NPC)
- can use class specific rare runes as this class can create new rune words on magic scrolls which serves as charges - rune order influences the spells (like charge number, form, elemental type)
- master of larger rune circles (defensive or offensive zone effects for party) which can be written on the ground as long as he/she holds a class specific item (like a runestone collection as shield)
- can place explosive rune seals on doors
- uses a floating necklance around his neck as a weapon which got rune words elements (creates setuped rune word circle around him)
- can summon elementals in rune circles (fire, ice, lighting, earth, blood)
- Herbalist / Potion master / Shaman / Witch doctor
- can collect class specific herbal ingredients which can be used
- to create different type of poisons (can be added or traded as weapon charges or like gas potions (like shadow magic of Rogue) or healing potions
- can create acid potions and acid clouds
- fabricating totems from body part of enemies (bone magic)
- inhaling collected flower / dried mushroom powders as spells
- merging with roots trees as bracelets (water them with own blood as house plants) which symbiosis will grant additional effects
- using poisonous darts , tribal boomerangs, swarmimg insects
Oooooh, a class thread. I actually have been sitting on my list because I was waiting for the āhereās how/where we want feedback and ideasā thing but since this has started here ā¦
My thought is theyāve talked repeatedly about the āclass fantasyā. And I like that and agree with it, but once weāve had a handful of those I think you can open the floodgates to the nuanced and specialized classes. Rather than a high level archetype you can get into the super specific ones. At that point people that are playing a lot will have already made characters of each class so adding newer classes that are a bit of a departure would be interesting, hereās my little copy/paste from my google doc with all my āpost these ideas laterā (I intentionally havenāt given any first draft on what I think they should be like because I think they names themselves evoke an image in your mind immediately if I donāt):
Typical class fantasies:
- Cleric
- Priest
- Witch
- Thief
- Warlock
- Bard
Atypical:
- Exorcist
- Smuggler
- Swashbuckler
- Pirate
- Woodsman
- Burglar
- Cutpurse
- Fencer
- Armsman
- Engineer/Artificer
- Inquisitor
- Dragoon
- Headsman
- Occultist
- Psychic
- Masochist
- Falconer
- Convict
New weapon types with new classes:
-
Giant chains
-
Tomes
-
Prism
-
Spears
-
Muskets
-
Pets (falcons, etcā¦)
-
Whips (on the fence on that one since I think the sound would drive me crazy)
Maybe they should introduce a Gladiator with a spear and a shield like a combination of Amazon/Crusader without the religious part. But people would like to name it rather Knight / Crusader / Paladin / Inquisitor as it sounds more noble.
Maybe the holy class could be a Priest (like a Crusader / Monk combination).
Do⦠people not follow leaks?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Who1GV-LvsU
I doubt they will release a surprise 6th class without announcing or testing it before release. Maybe they will add Paladin / Crusader / Templar in the first expansion.
You didnt even goto the link did you?
Itās a holy warrior⦠with a shield and spear⦠no itās not coming at launch. But it was leaked.
There will be new classes, Iām guessing two like in other Diablo games.
Are they really needed though? No. Itās just bonus IMO.
5 classes in such a game IMHO and if you think about it, covers all the type of gameplay you can technically do. Having more classes then becomes a gimmick in a way. In fact, even 5 classes is an upgrade to the traditional RPG 3 (warrior, rogue, sorcerer).
To be honest, I would rather they focus on DEPTH rather than adding new classes. Like more character customisation, deeper skill tree, deeper story, etc.
Just adding classes does not make a gamer deeper or better.
Never such a thing as too many classes⦠look at conquest of azeroth. 21 custom characters.
