Seriously. This is the boss at the end of the first section of the game? First section? Really…
First problem - WAY more difficult/complex than ANYTHING ELSE in the Beta. The difference in difficulty/complexity is extreme. As a 19 Rogue I was blasting my way through everything. Then this. BAM! Steel door shut in the face.
Second problem - T-D-ous. Tedious because of the constant need to shift shift shift. Tedious because after even a couple attempts it gets annoying and then frustrating and then infuriating. Yeah, good selling point there.
But just another case of how devs will always lose perspective due to their own familiarity and practiced skill.
If progressing out of Act 1 requires defeating that boss…keep your game, I’m not buying it.

Suprised you are having that much trouble. Watch the ground and keep an eye on crap positioning.

what exactly are you looking for in this game? easily breeze through all content? story mode essentially? put all mobs at 1 hp for me plox daddy blizz? im so lost with this mind set. im not a huge AARPG nerd admittedly but isnt the point of this game that when you hit a wall you improve your build options and/or gear than try the challenge again? i had a summoner necro early game, hit this boss, minions stood in nono circles and died, so my second attempt i redid my build away from minions and rocked it. its not saying minions are bad, they just werent good in that moment without any items/true build talents to support them.

More meaningful combat means engaging with the mechanics. It’s great.
There’s 1000s of normal and groups of mobs for your thoughtless combat. Bosses should be a challenge.
Sometimes you have to be more patient than you want to in a fight. That’s for the player to figure out the puzzle and wrestle with their own patience.
A final boss experience that’s actually hard is very fitting.

a more enjoyable fight than Nicar in Malnok for sure.

Ummm sounds like a skill issue to me. Across all my chracters I used maybe 2-3 potions with my Druid and Barb runs the other 3 could facetank or kite the final boss with ease !!!

This boss is hard? Could have fooled me.
IMO it’s one of the easier bosses in the game, even ones that are much simpler than it are much more difficult to deal with. All of Lilith’s Lament’s damage is avoidable or extremely predictable so it can be mitigated. It’s an easy fight.

Try lowering the world tier. Then do it again. If you still fail, it’s a you issue.
What did you expect, honestly? To be able to walk through absolutely everything mashing 1 button or something?

Fights not that hard, I’m sure you’ll get over it. I am curious about this part though:
Because this did bother me. I really wish they would use common features like being able to assign abilities to always be used as if you are holding Shift.
A few little things could make the controls so much better.
My Barbarian had a tough time with this boss, my Sorcerer did not

Rebind shift to a much easier reached key. Though I took them down on controller.
It died in 10 seconds for me. The game balance is all over.

Why do people have such extreme reactions nowadays? If you are having trouble with the boss, lower the world tier/difficulty. There is no shame in that. If you still can’t kill the boss then take a look at what changes need to be made and keep practicing.

i like how the normal mode bosses actually require more than just auto attacking them to win
in D2 there weren’t that many tough bosses in normal other than the travincal

Imagine if OP played Darksouls/Elden Ring or Sekiro…

You’re having trouble with the boss where you get an actual ally in, basically, a divine battle mech to help you?
That boss was challenging, as a melee Rogue, but not at all impossible. I didn’t even die once while fighting it, though I may have had a close call or two. You may need to spend some time elsewhere getting your gear up or something. I will admit that I did a lot of the surrounding content before I finally went through the rest of the story, so it may simply be that you’re extremely low in gear.
Otherwise, I don’t know what to tell you…because out of all the difficult bosses, that one was the most enjoyable and didn’t cause me death. Very unlike Mr. Machine Gun Long-Tooth and The Triplets of Dismay, not to actually name them because I don’t know their real name… Oh, and Twirly McFrost Goat.
Screw those three when solo.
