Nerf Herders...I Don't Get it

G A M E R S
Welcome to brain rot

you know what’s really sad? our only sorc advocate Mekuna looks like he gave up on sorc and went SB. GG.

I dont blame him one bit. Spiritborn is so far ahead that it really hurts to play other heroes and watch your power drastically fall. I was carrying torment IV bosses with full party with bad gear and only half knowing how to even play on Day 4 with Quill SB. Except Andy. Andy I need 3 to 4 ppl the circle thing is a pain.

Makes you not want to string up alts as much with that big of a power difference from class to class.

However Mekuna is a different breed and a sorc at heart so seeing him throw in the towel is sad.

Im going to make a charge bolt sorc in a month or so (when buff for other heroes come) and when my SB honeymoon is over and its bored AF. They have a new aspect and I wanna try it out.

They have to do something mid season or sooner. 90% of players are SB. ITs not even a joke I think. WE made it a joke before S6 launch but its so high. I havent even seen a druid yet. 1 necro. 2 mages, 1 barb. all other SB

  • Aspect of the Arrow Storm = LH up to 20% chance to summon a storm of arrows over an area dealing 30k damage over 5 seconds

  • Blood boiling aspect = Overpower drops volatile blood orbs on the ground causing explosions on pickup and dealing 2.5k damage

  • Edgemaster’s aspect = Skills deal up to [x ]20% increased damage based on amount of Resource

  • Conceited aspect = Deal [x ]20% increased damage while having a Barrier active

Which 2 will you equip if you deal millions of damage already ?

Now I get it some aspects aren’t for the late game and are mostly intended for leveling (such as Blood Boil) but again - it would remain relevant even if somewhat behind if the “average” wasn’t in m/b/illions already

If most builds did around 100k or whatever then it would remain an option and that’s just one example (let’s use comparable this time, not competitive but comparable) performance

And no, the % changes based on the number scope and basis

You might argue if weakest build is 20M dps and strongest is 500M in one case and then 20k and 500k in another is the same - it is not

The ratio may be the same but the “delta” is much lesser (in the first case when hitting 20M you “lag” behind by 480M per hit, in the second you lag behind only 480k)

Once you start hitting millions of damage only x[%] will matter, nothing else will, you’re just playing dumb at this point we both know it

I’d probably name Last Epoch for here but not sure entirely

The problem isn’t if there is or not another game, the problem is we’re back at square 1 again (they’re doing number squish for a reason so better do it right), otherwise this is S1.0/2.0 all over again

I’m running a one, clearing Pit ~34 currently. The spirits are restless and the nature’s strong with it

Right? Why he have more hands? :hamster:

Sure, but when one class is well above all the rest and they balance the last piece of the game around that class that is above…then it becomes a class vs class thing. So until they learn to balance around the complete set, they need to close the gap between them.

For me it’s not that a certain build is vastly OP, it’s that the way that this continually happens is indicative of either very poor testing, or purposefol FOTM design to push people towards seasonal play by building up and then destroying top performing builds. I tend strongly towards the latter - that this is at least mostly on purpose, given that when the nerfs come, they also hit builds that don’t need it.

Balancing any game as complex and based around random values as a RNG looter ARPG is never going to be perfect - things will slip by, certain arrangements will always be stronger and evolve into metas - but they have spreadsheets, they have test environments, they can run permutations, they can have people actually play the game.

The huge, repeating issues of this nature however seem indicative of either incompetence, or manipulative design.

Perra Gaming’s latest video has SB clearly Pit 147, Rogue and Sorc 90ish and Druid only Pit 80 but I don’t any the problem.
Honestly I would settle for not having to hit four keys in perfect rotation just to do 1/1000th of the damage that SB does with the one. No one is going to ever convince me that Blizzard play tests this stuff.

Yeah, you did lol. You also implied D4 had leaderboards.

No balance is not the same as being obsessed with balance. There is a middle ground.

The build I’m thinking of predates pit. But again - who cares if someone can clear a higher pit than you? Or more importantly - why?

Yes, SB is going to get nerfed before next season. If it doesn’t I’ll eat my keyboard.

My point is:

  • The whinging is excessive and hyperbolic.
  • SB will get nerfed. The QQ will then continue about the next strongest build. Or we’ll have a barb situation where SB gets overnerfed and you will be sitting there gloating and saying ‘well it serves you right for being OP in the past’.

Again, most of us just want the other classes to be able to do tier 4 without shenanigans or being herded like Moo Deng by our Aztec Zookeeper overlords.

The responses in this thread say otherwise.

Ditto all the folks on Reddit laughing at barb players struggling because ‘lol thats what you get for being too strong in the last season’ in the previous season.

It’s not about balance or making other classes better. It’s about envy - and pure spite.

What exactly is normal balance and obsessed with balance?

Is blizzard even close to normal balance?

Lol.

Perfect balance is impossible. ITs ok If we have some builds Tier S and then some A and B as long as it rotates and they are close.

What we cannot have is the current tier situation with as big as the gap is looks like this. No joke this really is how I see it so far.

Spiritborn: Tier SB ( AKA Tier SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS)
Necro, Rogue, Barb, Sorc: Tier F
Druid: Tier MIA

I don’t care if a class/build is broken; let whoever wants to play that have fun. Unfortunately, the game is balanced around that broken build, and the rest of us feel like plebs.

In all the game, there is always exploit during launch which players use it to trivialize the game before the developer patch the exploit. This does not stop those game enjoy by majority of players. As most players play a game for the challenge, not for the exploit to shortcut their journey.

Every expansion will divide the player base, as in many game if you are not in the expansion. Then you are in a different realm and play an older version of the game.

I made content for a highly difficult souls like game which top the steam chart. Those content which teach players how to exploit and trivialize the game actually attract very little interest from player base. Players are more interested in how to overcome the difficult content with proper strategy instead of cheat and exploit.

absolutly dumb take. This only leads to insane power creep. You don’t buff other classes/builds cuz 1 class is obviously busted and insanly broken this leads ONLY to power creep.

Do you guys understand the difference between pit 147 that spiritborn doing vs pit 90 that best builds for other classes doing? It’s literally hundreds times maybe even thousands in power.

This season is already ruined by spiritborn and blizzard who can’t fix this class ASAP and correctly. PERIOD.

I think if you have people that say T4 is not reachable by most other classes, the solution is to buff the other classes.

Otherwise, if you nerf SB to T3, what’s the point of T4.

And besides, they can just add T5-13 easily and just stat squish with a nerf next expac.

Etc.

There isn’t just 1 way to do this you know. There’s a lot of ways to skin this cat.

I mean you might need to slightly nerf spiritborn and buff the others to make it work, but ultimately I think there needs to balance within a few pits of each other. Not 50-60 though.

the difference between being able to farm t4 and pit147 is not even huge it’s colossal. T4 is pit 65 which is achivable by every class. This is firstly a problem of scaling and bad numbers, but such difference should never appear if blizzard at least slightly care.
