Hi im looking for help with the right paragon board for penetrating shot build. Theres 8 board selection to choose from before attaching that paragon board and idk whats the correct one to pick thanks! Planning to go penetrating shot for season 1 tomorrow im excited! 
Even if you’re not going to use one of the “standard”/“meta” builds, I recommend going to some of the sites (icy veins, maxroll, whatever) and reading through what they’ve done, as they’ll often also give information as to why they made a specific choice. Even if you choose differently, it can help you make a reasonable and rational choice.
I’ve basically done that. I have a mostly-crappy Pen Shot/ice imbuement build that I like but is never going to kill Lilith or push high NM tiers. It’s just fun for me, and it works well running around with the friend I usually play with. But I read through a bunch of different pen shot builds to see what they did and, if they didn’t say why, try to figure it out for myself. I’ve been able to go from mostly-useless to at least being able to do stuff several levels above me by reorganizing some stats and playing around with different basic moves and such.

If I’m going to give more specific advice, I’d say:
- A lot of focus is on the glyph slots and how much of any given stat you can get around it, as this is usually what buffs a glyph. So, if you want to use the Ranger glyph as an example, find a board that has a lot of Dexterity around the glyph slot.
- The legendary node is obviously a big deal on a board, but the rare nodes will likely have more impact in aggregate. Make sure you know which rare nodes you want to go after, as this can help you decide how to rotate the board and where you want to attach it.
- Most of the builds use the same glyphs and even the same boards, just rearranging them slightly.

Play your way…
BUT I do recommend no more that 4 boards…You won’t have enough points to top out the glyph expansions if you do…
Boards are based on YOUR build…no body elses…If you meta use, then follow what they say…
Play your way like I do…Do the boards YOUR WAY…

According to board layouts on Maxroll (yes, I use this in conjunction w/ other sites to get ideas/guidance) every rare node shown is unlocked.
But I can’t seem to get some to do so. I got all renown, etc. - refunded and reallocated many times on barb and got it to unlock all of them for Upheaval build, but it’s not working w/ sorc BL or barb HotA.
Check if they have all stats recommended on gear then? Usually recommended on the weapons.
Thanks, I did think of that, but geez, talk about needing to win the lottery under the alignment of Jupiter, Saturn and Venus on every piece of gear (need CDR, RCR, etc.).
Download the App “DB for Diablo 4”.
It helped me a lot with paragon placement. You can theory craft everything in the app.
