Need a Pause feature

We need a pause feature. I don’t care if you have to go offline, or otherwise have a different game mode you move into. I’ve loved the beta experience, have tested it out on PC, Xbox and PS - the biggest gripe I have is that I can’t pause. Diablo has never been WoW. It’s never been Dark Souls.

As a father of four, including a special needs child, having a pause button is a life saver. Life doesn’t wait for you to be able to town portal, and even when it does, sometimes you have to step away long enough for the session to time you out, and you have to march your digital self across the map again.

Please, for those of us with unforeseen real-life situations happening all around, GIVE US A FREAKING PAUSE.

Thank you.

Eh I highly doubt this will be implemented. And if so the only way I can see it working is if you’re in a solo dungeon.

Good luck though

Not happening in always online open world game.

Pause will never be added, unfortunately. Persistent online world. There’s no way to add such a feature.

Can you imagine though? A monster stumbles upon your frozen, lifeless but alive body just standing in place, stuck in time… Unable to figure out why they cannot hurt you - until someone else waltzes on by and they can harm them. Fast forward an hour and you come back to a handful of corpses around you.

Right, you could rebrand the rant to “I didn’t want World of Diablo” I wanted “Diablo 4.” What we had in D3 for online play with friends was amazing.

There will never be a ‘pause’ function for a multiplayer game.

Your pause feature is called log out.

Might have that if there’s an offline play mode. It’s a shared world though.

Oh look, snark. You saying that in the forum they tell you to submit suggestions, that suggestions should not be submitted? I’m not saying I won’t play, I’m not saying I won’t log out, I am saying “hey, this would be nice, instead of logging out.” Why is making a suggestion like that a problem that warrants your snark?

Yep it’s become hard to go to the corner for a man more harder for a women…

+1 this
I’ve been playing and my friend called me to ask if I play D4 too. I couldn’t pause and mobs were attacking me so I couldn’t talk over the phone. I pressed Esc. and game didn’t pause…??? I don’t like “always live” game especially that there are PvP areas & hardcore. It’s pointless.

This, would be awesome. That said, just give us an offline mode since I could see the other causing other issues. I’d hate to take away bandwidth on the server because I have to take care of my kid.

Pausing my own PC for 30 minutes so I don’t have to restart a quest because I logged out, or got timed out? Sign me up all day long.

Pause in the over-world can never happen ,as the game is designed, no. But we could at least get a pause functionality in areas like dungeons, when not in a party. Anything that is instanced to a single player, should in my mind have the same pause functionality as D3 had. It worked just fine.
Some times the real world happens; a phone call, someone knocks on the door, or a kid falling over. This could “easily” be accommodated with “Esc to pause” in solo instances.

All we gotta do is ask our Moms. They can pause it anytime.

You can pause in Dota 2, and Starcraft 2

D3 initially launched without pause, with all of the above reasons given.

I am totally with the first poster (I have a special needs son and father who needs assistance…and a life in general) on this one. It should be possible to allow pausing in single player mode in dungeons.

I play Diablo-style games because I don’t have a lifestyle that allows for MMO play. It would be nice if there were some accommodations for the busy, but if not, there are other games, I suppose.

We want to play; we just can’t.

+1 need a pause when playing solo just like D3.

Can easily be added, has been done before.

Big props if they add it along with a SSF mode.

Also get these strangers out of my room at the Inn plz… That are trespassing.

Hit your town portal button.

Pause option should be when we are alone in instance. for example in dungeon or killing bosses like lilith.

nobody can join us so why game cant go in singleplayer mode?!
