Necromancer minion damage multiplier not working from paragon/tempering

I started this season like any other season on my necromacer. With a minion build. Once i got to torment 3 I started to notice that I have dificultyes in pushing up content towards torment 4. I used tempering on my rings / neck/gloves and weapon. Not that it did not show up corectly the modifiers , it did not felt like they where aplaying either. I thought I was the one who made a mistake initialy , since I did not saw anyone posting anything regarding this issue. Til yesturday when I saw on reddit. Did anyone else are strugling with minion damage multiplier not fealing they are applied correctly ? I should have at least 500/600% more mage skeletal damage if i summ up the tempering and paragon and items all togheter but it feels like it barly aplays anything from that. The issue I enconterd both on my etternal necromancer and on my seasonal one .

P.S. I removed my gear and reset all my skills alongside Paragon. The display of the stats and minion damage multiplier did not change at all, regardless of whether I had equipped items or invested in any minion talents.

Minion Necro has major bugs right now with interactions between Passive Skeletal/Golem masteries, i suspect they are being considered additive insted of multiplicative from what i tested on Dummy.

Reapers upgrade 2 is not generating corpses.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, there may be other bugs with the Summon rework that affected Necromancer Minion build that we just dont know yet!!

I will finish Season Free BattlePass and wait for Season 8 for them to fix Minion… hopefully after 1 year of release

Necromancer in Diablo 4 is a "necromancer-like " class.

Here is the explaination.

It’s starling that minions build are bug since a long time and multi milionaire company can’t for the sake of the game and necro players fix it, but HEY, we can new skins and battle passes for a GREAT PRICE.

Common, its time to start to work. Diablo 4 deserves this and we players that paid for that deserve this.

yeah… I am also really disappointed after struggling a lot with my minions and finally recognized… they are bugged.

I guess it’s finally time to switch to poe… if blizzard don’t care about their players. waiting for midseason patch takes to long. bug is reported and should be fixed within few days and not weeks, but it seems like the d4 source code is kinda spaghetti

this shows how so many of us (i include myself in this) are completely out of touch with what is actually doing our damage… I learned this process several seasons ago when I found out my BCE was carrying my “pure minion necro” back before all the minion buffs. Though season 6 duped me again into thinking minions were great… then I unequipped my mendeln and did a T4 Horde… jesus the bosses took a while to die rather then the usual 3-5 seconds.

I always now checked what and where my damage comes from so for me the damage this season was exactly where I expected it… However up until I equipped mendeln… when I noticed no significant improvement. Sure my damage went up because its a great item, but no crazy hits like before (ring proc’s).

I am actually really enjoying this season despite everything as I have dumped AotD in the bin and now am playing a nice soulrift minion build which means I have a powerful barrier, perma vuln and fortify. And all my meaningful damage is actually coming from my minions! I literally don’t cast a single spell that isn’t a CD utility spell (RS, Golem, Bloodmist, tendrils, soulrift, bone prison).
my damage has fallen off a cliff at pit 83 but my gear is poo! and my glyphs are all 46-60, so I can improve quite a bit. Also I need to level all my witch powers.

Looks like Im making a cata druid sooner than later as I choose minion necro too. I got to tier 4 but its been a struggle. Ring of mendy is rumored broken as well and not scaling.

Not only this but some of the witch powers dont work right like the aura of lament does not work for coven.

its just not scaling with specific minion aspects like reanimation/great feast. it still works with your paragon/glysph/generic aspect modifiers.

it does work however not on bosses.
I tested all psyche witch powers on bosses to see which one I could use to keep up 3 stacks of coven for the lucky hit on bosses as that is the most important place for me to have lucky hit.

  • Lament doesn’t work on bosses so doesn’t give you the 3 stacks.
  • Aura of misfortune also doesn’t work even with the permanent increase move speed aura. Twilight warding also doesn’t work in all situations unless its your only form of barrier, it is over-written by any other form of barrier that has permanent uptime.
  • Vengeful spirit servant only works when it takes enough damage to die and explode
  • Force of will is useless as it needs kills.
  • Life link is the best option, it is not 100% up, but if you take any form of damage from the boss it will proc the 3rd stack on coven. I am planning on running with a permanent Lac rune, im hoping the taunt on this might increase the chances of taking damage from the boss, either way getting hit is usually quite easy on boss fights in the pit. So as long as you take some damage every 10s you keep 3 stacks up, if not you drop down to 2.

Lament does not work on anything. I could never get it to work with coven.

Misfortune works on everything as it has an aoe slow. No issue on this one. Instantly went to 3 when I used it.

Coven is supposed to work on damage or CC but the CC part isnt consistent across powers.

Anybody test voice of stars with this? It gives your ulty all tags. So in theory one ulty cast should = 3 stacks which would rocket up my fun as I could drop the crappy powers and get more summons like the frog I cant use as Im stuck using hex for pointy finger.

I will do more tests to verify everything but yah pretty sure lament is bugged.

Just replying to keep this top of forums…this is really untenable and needs to be fixed ASAP. No other build this broken would be allowed to last this long…

No two ways about it, minions were nerfed. In season 6, I had about 600-700% additive damage to Warriors and Mages. Now it’s about 180-250%. There is no bug. You can’t build more than that. The nodes don’t exist. What’s there instead is Damage with Summons & at best it’s just a hair under 200%.

Minions were already doing insignificant damage in t4. Now it’s just absolute trash. The only reason why I was able to push past t4 was Grandfather and Mendeln. Without those two items, the build cannot do it.

Is the development team happy now? People are having less fun with the game. All this makes NO sense! HOW do you manage to make things worse and make players MORE disillusioned with the game for a game that ALREADY lost a massive amount of players?!? Someone help me understand because I don’t. You want people to have more fun not less.

I swear I’m going to get some people fired and I’m really not joking about that. Believe me, I have that capability. Don’t test me. I’m really not kidding. This is all unacceptable. Like it goes against everything that games stand for. You play games to have fun. You as the game’s creators do not make things to squash people’s fun. It’s literally antithetical. I don’t know what else there is to say.

If I don’t see an improvement next season, I WILL dip my hand in & get people fired. It’s the right thing to do.

Please do it because they are clueless at doing their jobs.

I agree, the minions themselves are doing absolutely nothing in T4. The only damage I have right now (did T90) is golem smash with fel glutony + Army of the dead.

Mendeln and the rest of that army isnt doing anything. I should be eating those bosses in the end, but my only damage window are army + golem smash.

They cant even kill a single white mob in T4.

I kinda feel I wasted my time masterworking all my gear and so on. I didnt read the forums before doing this. I knew something was wrong.

Meanwhile, Bloodwave necro deleting the content.

This is what bugging me since the beginning. Golems damage is the highest, they benefits more from generic multipliers, and summon/minion specific multipliers, they have the highest multipliers and additive damage on tempering, paragon board and gliph. Skeletons have nothing that comes close to Golems. And I get that Golems are the class mechanic, but argue that skeletons are also special to the Necro. Where are aspects that specificly increase their damage significantly, where are the multipliers for them, that would elevate them to main damage dealers if we want to? Skeletons fall back to utility in endgame and not even good ones.

What happens is what I talked about back in s1. They try to make another d3 and drag all the failed solutions to d4. Now we are approaching the moment when the most effective way for a summoner to close content is to stack bonuses to the golem and mage and kill all AODs (while the golem and mages themselves will not cause damage).
The person who designs the necromancer is simply mediocrity.
Remember my words: the best thing they will do is transfer the minion damage to Mendeln and it will work for a while.
But this is a very weak solution, you have 2 skills 100500 passive skills that will not work if you do not have a special artifact. This is not how ARPGs are supposed to work. I want Mendeln to increase my damage by 20-30%, maybe 50% or 100%, but not that all the damage depends only on the ring.

All this will continue until they understand that in this series - d2 is, was and will be the king and good ideas need to be drawn from there (or simply from other games, the implementation of the summoner in any game will be better than in d3, d4)

What is so hard to make minions just do good damage overall? It’s the class fantasy.

So until they do something or not…is it viable to add something like Bloodwave to a minion build with the new unique that makes it so good?

If so, does someone have a build they suggest? Thanks!
