Necromancer glyphs

hi all, today i just leveled all my necromancer glyphs to 21 but i have some questions
that’s the guide i’m following, i’m a shadow summoner necro: https:// maxroll.gg/d4/build-guides/shadow-minion-necromancer-guide

  1. why scourge glyph? it seems pretty useless since i don’t use the skill ‘blight’ that often
  2. i play mostly defensive and i stay away from mobs while my minions do their job, so territorial glyph seems useless, should i change my playstyle or that glyph?

Scourge glyph is for the secondary bonus giving the x10% damage multiplier via Blight and Ultimate Shadow. I can’t remember if that one double dips but even if not it’s a x10% bonus (two x10% bonuses if it does). That may not seem large, and it isn’t, but they add up.

Territorial depends. If relying on your golem for damage in any serious capacity it’s important to remain close to it when possible for Hellbent Commander. Blight itself also tends to play better if you can pop in close to drop it. Both may mean you want to enter closer ranges. In which case Territorial is a respectable choice. If you aren’t taking this approach Territorial probably isn’t a great choice.

For that particular linked setup you’d probably have to retool paragon to swap out of Territorial. Possible alternative glyphs would be Darkness (for the DR), Control (to dunk on CC’d mobs) or Corporeal (movement speed + bonuses to magic nodes on whatever board it’s on).

Gravekeeper is another possible choice but it kind of needs the right balance of corpse generation vs consumption to be fully leveraged. More of the former. It might be okay with Reapers, Bonestorm and Blight. It’d be wise to pop it in and check to see if it’s secondary bonus gets the desired up-time before making that swap.

  • Scourge Glyph is good as long as you use: Shadowblight, blight or corpse explosion with Miasma. One of these sauces is enough.

  • Territorial Glyph is probably not worth it for you, I personally don’t use any defensive glyphs. If you have a sauce of thorns damage (maybe a point in spiked armour) you can use Revenge for increased boss damage where it will stack to 10%x. If you want a defensive option go with Darkness Glyph, I personally rate this over Territorial anyway as the hard hitting abilities on Pit bosses are not effected by either Territorial or Darkness.

I play shadow mages and use:

  • Abyssal
  • Amplify
  • Control
  • Deadraiser
  • Essence
  • Revenge
  • Scourge

I originally used the Control Glyph, but swapped it out when I realized that it only works on bosses when they’re staggered. I need more up time on my damage glyphs when I fight bosses.

The issue for me is, its 20% more damage for clearing which gives you a few more seconds. in addition, getting a single stagger happens for me every boss fight, sometimes even 2. in these windows I do a huge amount of damage, so for me its worth it given there is not much else I can do instead.

i kept scourge and i chose darkness instead of territorial ,i dont know if the shadow dmg works for my minions but the dr is really nice
maybe i will try control too

Are you sure you didn’t mean the Shadow Bosses? I found that the Territorial Glyph’s Damage Reduction does work on the regular Pit Bosses, but it has zero effect on the Shadow Bosses.

yeah the shadow bosses that appear in the boss fight. tbf those are the only mechanics that are of any threat, so when im speaking about the boss, i mean those extra mechanics on the boss fight.
