After looking at the book of the dead and making a single change. Ive lost all skeletons and my ability that was in “slot 1” is completely gone. Even after changing it several times, back to how it was, logging in and out. Ive lost the ability to have skeletons and essentially the book of the dead has no purpose for me now.

Press S or shift+C. Hope that resolves things for you.
Was the change that you made to ‘Sacrifice’ your skeletons? Because if you do that you have ‘Sacrificed’ your skeletons and gained a buff. You don’t have an ability to cast because there’s nothing to summon.
If you want to cast skeletons again, go to your book of the dead (Shift+C), select one of the non-sacrifice abilities. Hit close, press ‘S’, and then drag the ability at the bottom of the window on to your bars.

Oh my God, THANK YOU. I had unbound the Skill Assignment Flyout when I was playing my Rogue last weekend because it seemed unnecessary to have at the time. Now on my Necro and it’s basically essential to access that.
I have also experienced this bug. Shift+C did not fix it - nor did S.
I checked that I did not have ‘Sacrifice’ selected. It does not matter how many times I log in/out or change my key bindings - my skeletons are gone.
They are not gone.
You have to open the smaller skill flyout menu and drag them to your bar from there.
