After seeing a thread on Reddit showing how Blighted Corpse Explosion was scaling off Physical Damage and not Shadow Damage I check it myself. I had been putting points into the Wither paragon board thinking that CE was scaling with it. But after removing some of the rare shadow and shadow dot nodes I saw the damage for CE wasn’t changing. I can only assume this is a bug from the Blighted skill node that changes CE to a Darkness skill.

Can confirm, blighted CE is not affected by shadow dmg%, blizzard please fix this

Yeah add that to a pile of minion Necro issues. That explains why my dps is abysmally low at lv 70 despite having 8k attack.

It also doesn’t scale with shadow dot damage or dot damage. Not sure if it should but it does say shadow damage over 6 seconds. So it should be classified as a dot?

Blight only gets damage from Shadow damage. That both raises the direct hit, and the DoT part. However, any source of Shadow damge over time or even DoT will not increase the dmg the pool does. So Scourge is useless for blight aswell.

makes me wonder what the whole stat “shadow damage over time” even applies for… neither blight nor blighted CE are true dots like barbarians rend for example, they are more of a continues AoE effect like blizzard. thats probably why dot damage doesnt apply. but what else is there?

Man, I really hope Blizz fixes this. There’s probably many players who have already built into it not realizing that Blizzard’s tooltip is lying to them.

This issue is really crippling and destroys any incentive to put more time into my necro, or any other class that is, if i can’t even trust the tooltips and the little explanations i have in the game. I was wondering why my dmg went down so badly after “optimizing” my gear for shadow dmg or shadow dmg over time. This needs a fix asap.

poor QA on D4 prior to launch- countless abilities are messed up like this or not working at all on paragon nodes, etc.
yes, it was a smooth launch given how bad past launches are, but for a AAA title at maximum price this level of QA is terrible
classic MVP (minimum viable product) approach before go-live with customers

The Blighted Corpse Explosion indeed scale with physical dmg for now , not with shadow dmg nor dot dmg. And it is just a sad thing that u need to keep investing on those paragon points for shadow dmg and receive no benefit at all because you will never know when or how blizz will fix it.

Just saw this problem after investing on a lot of shadow damage increase nodes. Blighted CE remains unchanged.
Would be great to get a blue reply to let us know this is being looked into.
