Necro minions are fundamentally flawed

Ignoring the “we made them harder to kill again” change, which won’t be enough.

The concept is greatly flawed. You can’t have lost ark style boss fights with uncontrollable AI that can die…especially when their ability to get healed and resummoned is based on corpses so it isn’t spammable. If you don’t run reapers, you are getting SMALLLLL amounts of corpses when you can have like 13ish skeletons? If all of your skeletons die, it’s virtually impossible to get them back on a boss and you do no damage at all. This doesn’t even include the fact that you can’t focus fire them.

Even with army of the dead, this cooldown is wayyyy too long to be useful. So not only do you feel forced into playing reapers just to pray you can farm corpses all over the ground to help with healing and resummons, but if they all die, you’re screwed. The healing is complete trash as well but that can be balanced with number tweaks.

Long story, short. Unless they make skeletons nearly unkillable and can be focus fired, they will always be trash unless they’re completely overtuned with damage…or they have to allow them to be summoned without corpses, or make corpses rain from the sky constantly.

You have passives to help generating corpses, as well the decompose spell.

It isn’t even close to enough. You can have 13 skeletons die instantly and then get 1 corpse every 3-5 seconds. You summon 1 skeleton, it dies before you get a 2nd corpse. It is not acceptable. You then can’t do anything else at all. It is completely flawed for a system. You spend your entire time trying to get a single corpse back to summon 1 skeleton. Decompose would need to be spawning 5 corpses every 2 seconds to be even close to reasonable. Even that would feel slow.

After the hotfix I didn’t have any of my skeletons get one shot from powerful elites. Compared to before the hotfix where I saw an elite kill all of them in one single attack(it was hilarious).

You’re missing the point. Even in end game closed beta pre-nerf, skeletons are unplayable.

You know the act 1 campaign boss at the end that makes you get in the bubble and puts red AoE all over the ground? Your skeletons will just sit in it and die. That’s on an easy fight. The fights get harder, stronger aoe, etc. The concept is flawed because it doesn’t matter if they get 1 shot. What matters is if they can all die at the same time, even if it’s over time. Then you can’t get them back up fast enough.

You can sit on copium all you like, but they will be unplayable at end game.

I’ve already pointed this out many times, even in the previous beta. We have no idea how bad the pets will be when you bump the difficulty up. I was predicting them to get one shot… and then we get this slam event lol. I rest my case. I still think they need to buff necro pets more but it’s hard until we actually see the endgame.

The pets need a big reduction in damage from ANY ae attack since they just stand in everything.

I just did that fight on Tier 1 and this is true, the skeleton have no chance to survive that fight since the only safe zone is the bubble and i find myself constantly summoning skeleton on that fight. Luckily the boss can be killed without minion

Right, but at that point, why even have summons? Just sac them all and move on. This doesn’t even include the fact that the summons take up 2 slots on the bar while sorc enchants take 0.

I’ve been trying and are way tougher now, they still die on boss fights, but you are not left with 0 skels in just one blow. If you use reapers with the secondary active they make enough corpses on they own to replenish your army.

It’s not like the beta, but it’s definitely better than what we got at the beginning of the slam.

IMO Minion Necro feels good again.

The “priest” summon is also poorly designed and implemented; it does not heal for a significant amount at all. It’s easier and more practical to let your summons die than to heal them at this time (and during the last beta).

I still have my doubt on how they survive on higher tier.

They do not, in previous testing (above level 25) summons become unusable at higher difficulty tiers.

Exactly, all of the people saying they’re “fine again” have no vision at all. The entire concept is busted and will be the same people crying at max level that they can’t use summons.

This will need an overhaul or major tweaking to make them unkillable. I mean even in WoW they had to make pets unkillable in raid bosses and you can even control a lot of them. They’re basically unkillable in diablo 3.

You can buff it with Bonded in Essence skill which is at the end of the skill tree for an additional 60% healing at lvl 3.

The problem here is that lvl 20 cap leaves little room for building as most minion buffs are at the end of the tree.

60 % of nothing is still nothing

I played that previously. You’re so short sighted. This fundamentally is still based on corpses, which is the problem. You don’t have enough corpses and that heal won’t kill them alive, even with the passive that makes them take % based dmg…which was nerfed harshly by the way.

60 + 10 is 70%… and 70% of their max life is basically that it will replenish their entire life bar.

I’ll be sure to come back to this post to troll your IQ when the game releases and the forums are filled with “summons can’t survive end game” posts.

I think he meant even with 70% heal, its pointless since the minion already dead. The heal is not an instant heal and cannot help at all in boss fight anyway.

Plus you need corpses, which you don’t get enough corpses on boss fights unless you use reapers. If your reapers die, then you DEFINITELY don’t get enough corpses to even summon your army back at this point.
