A healthy mix of both. Summoning/Minion damage increases their base damage, crit damage multiplies that base damage.

No, both are additive damages.
If you do crit 100% of the time, crit bonusses, which are much bigger than summoning bonusses at the moment, will do much more damage.
it just comes down to which number is higher as additive damage is all effectively the same (i think), also this assumes you are crit capped.
Take tempering, summoning damage caps out at 60% for a perfectly rolled temper at 0/12 masterworking, while a perfect crit damage roll is 85% at the same level of masterworking. Therefore crit damage is always better to temper as long as you are crit capped.
As others have said, this hasn’t been true since season 2.
Which ever you choose I think the main thing is to align it with paragon board choices.
Not really, there aren’t any paragon nodes that favor one additive damage type over another.
The only thing to consider is the uptime of a damage type’s conditional. In the case of crit damage, this would be your crit chance (duh!)
The math is fairly simple: [uptime]*[damage bonus]=[average damage bonus]
Of course, there are some talents and effects from gear, which grant extra multiplicative scaling from particular additive damage types. Season 7 adds a couple of new ones, too.
