ND SIGIL Quality Of Life for Whisper Indication

I know this has been suggested before, but it really should require some attention going into S7 and that requiring Whisper completions …

With Compasses (finally!) stacking and freeing up inventory for more NM Sigils … any way to actually get NM Sigils in inventory to indicate they are currently involved for an active Whisper?

Suggestions:

  1. A Halo or other visual indication on the ND Sigil in inventory to indicate that that dungeon is currently a Whisper. (Yes, visually easy to identify in inventory, and yes, a lot more coding and visual design elements …) … or could just change the Sigil to Red in inventory while that dungeon is a Whisper.

  2. The Simple Solution (a NM dungeon Sigil check vs. Whispers) … Everyone is already jumping back and forth between map and inventory to try and see if there are matches for a NM Dungeon Sigil and Whisper. And that will only increase with S7 reliance on Whispers to progress …

2A) Change the Sigil description from Blue to Red when inspected in inventory (mouse over) while that dungeon is a Whisper. Pull up the tab, scroll across Sigils … Blue, Blue, Blue, RED! … and maybe add some indication timer to not show a Sigil as a Whisper if there is <= 5 min on the Whisper.

Just remember that Opals, Potions, Incense are usually all burning away without rewards while having to figure out IF you might have a Sigil for the current Whisper dungeon.

This was a major annoyance for me in season 6. I had a huge collection of keys for all the different dungeons so I could run them as nightmare dungeons when they had an active Whisper.

Using up my already sparse storage space felt bad, and spending a bunch of time looking back and forth between my map and keys was time-consuming and irritating. More inventory management is not something the game needs.

I think it would be nice if the keys were not tied to any specific dungeon and you just opened whatever nightmare dungeon you wanted from the map as long as you had a key. If they wanted to keep the nightmare dungeon rotation for some reason, the icons for available nightmare dungeons could just always be the nightmare dungeon icon, and you could just click an inactive dungeon to activate it, and then click an active one to teleport. I saw someone else suggest that all dungeons on Torment difficulty should just be nightmare dungeons, which would also make sense to me. No one is running normal dungeons in the endgame.

For the boon and bane—since they couldn’t come from the key anymore in either of those scenarios—someone in another thread suggested having an antechamber at the beginning where you could pick from a few options, similar to Infernal Hordes or the new seasonal dungeon.

The whole sigil being tied to a specific dungeon mechanic has been more cumbersome than anything else and I think it really needs a revamp. I’d rather they either remove the sigils and make all dungeons on Torment 1-4 nightmare dungeons with random modifiers OR they can make the keys work in any dungeon so we can pick which dungeons we want to run. This will make it much easier to do our whispers without having to constantly check out inventory.

Now if Blizzard really wanted to take this to the next level, they could make different tiers of NM Dungeon modifiers on the sigils and they could even add a progression system to it, if you can use all the modifiers for one tier, you unlock the 2nd, 3rd, etc… sorta a similar but modified take on PoE maps.

Sigils should be replaced with Sigil Dust. Sigil Dust is a Material so it goes in Material Tab and stacks.

The way NMDs should work is that you do not craft Sigils anymore. You perform a ritual at the Occultist with Sigil Dust which allows you to select the NMD level and Affixes. The specific NMD is randomly generated. Once you perform the ritual, a Portal opens directly into the NMD. Get rid of RNG Affixes on Sigils that everyone just Salvages the bad ones that destroy their build and aren’t fun. Let players pick.

Forgoing a Positive Bonus Affix will result in an extra chest at the end with Gold and Materials.

I think maybe either making all Torment dungeons NMDs or having a single stackable key that converts any dungeon to NMD would be the way to go long term.

For the bane/boon mechanic they could easily replicate something along the lines of Infernal horde and the new seasonal dungeon where you are presented with a few RNG bane/boon choices at the beginning of the dungeon.

hell for that matter they could even just put the bane/boon choices at the entrance of every dungeon. If you select one it becomes nightmare, if you don’t its regular dungeon, then you don’t need an item at all…

RNG bane/boon is bad as some of the bane absolutely cripples some build. People would find a way around resetting and trying for a different outcome anyways like they do Salvaging bad Sigils and keeping ones with non-annoying bane.

At this point, just let players pick the bane/boon.

It isn’t like Sigils are hard to get either so having them be consumables is redundant. There is so much other stuff to farm, get rid of that requirement.

I don’t mean like you log in and randomly get what you get… I mean you have three randomly generated pairings to choose from. If you have 3 choices of random pairings it shouldn’t be so bad right?

Did you play the seasonal dungeon in PTR? that is kind of what I mean.
