Visual design is much closer to what I want Diablo to be, not quite D2, but definitely not D3
The story and voice acting were solid throughout
A more MMO style approach to quests, with NPC filled towns and hubs, it truly makes the world feel alive
Both the Wizard and Rogue felt incredible to play, they were a ton of fun with lots of interesting options
Bag sorting! A much welcomed feature, although I would like to be able to choose how it’s sorted (by power, rarity, time obtained etc)
The Butcher, I was not expecting him to spawn out of nowhere and dying has never been so enjoyable
Cons:
The world boss, it needs a minimum level requirement as it was impossible to kill if you were put into the same phase as a bunch of low levels
Dungeon chores will get very old, very fast. Modified dungeons (think PoE maps) are supposed to be the end game content replacing Rifts, and it’s not fun having to pick up keys, unlock doors, kill xxx before xxx opens, I am already tired of it so I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when we’re expected to run these dungeons over and over
The Barb, he’s extremely weak right now and just not fun to play IMO. He needs some serious work before release
Many animations are capped to a lower frame rate, this looks extremely jarring when playing on a high refresh rate display above 60fps, this is often used on consoles to claw back performance but it’s not needed on PC, at the very least we need an option to disable it
High textures are causing stuttering due to the insane amounts of VRAM they use, even GPUs with 12GB VRAM are not enough, this is most likely a bug and I’m sure it’ll be fixed but it has to go on the list nonetheless
The UI isn’t great, mostly due to the fact so many different fonts are being used, it’s actually a little silly how many there are, look at the UI and try to count how many different fonts there are
A minor issue but salvaging an item now destroys the gem instead of returning it to you, which is just annoying as you now have to remove the gem at the NPC and then salvage, it’s just an unnecessary step and a downgrade from D3
You can’t transmog to an item that you have equipped, I shouldn’t have to destroy my BiS item to be able to use its transmog (this is especially annoying if you’re a dual wielding class and want your weapons to match)
The FoV, especially in town. I would really appreciate being able to zoom out another notch or two from what’s currently possible
Respec cost, I saw an interview with the devs who stated respec costs would get so expensive that it would be easier to remake the character than farm the gold needed, this is a TERRIBLE design and needs to go. Under no circumstances should I have to remake my character to skirt a design choice. Either remove the cost entirely or cap it to something reasonable, having the choice and freedom to experiment with different builds is fun
I disagree with a few of your points. Respecing costs need to stay. It costs nothing at lower level it’s only end game build that will be set in stone.
And I kind of like that salvaging a gemmed piece of equipment destroys the gem. It means you don’t get a free unsocket.m, you have to pay the price to get it out. (If you throw a emerald ring into a furnace you know the gem is getting ruined.). They should add a prompt to the salvage though to ask if you want to pay before it’s salvaged.
I super agree about the dungeons finding keys is terrible and really slows the pace down. I’d rather a forced mini boss guarding a blocked door
I don’t even have a clue how to transmog anything. I tried looking around in the menu and my character sheet and just concluded it’s not available yet.
I did not think about this at all. But if it is accurate for what end game will be at launch…then I agree 1000%.
It will mean that the “Grind” will only be a handful of dungeons that have the most straightforward paths and the others will be skipped. Everyone hates backtracking, especially when there is nothing to fight on your way back with the statue on your back…or the key in your bag…or after you have tracked down the last essence…
This argument has been raging on forever. It seems silly to rehash it here, but essentially you have 2 sides: No repeccing vs Completely Free respeccing. Both suck. A happy medium is the best solution that any game has come up with, and this is the system most games use nowadays.
No respec= annoying AF. one mistake and you must make a new char. more replayability for the so determined.
Free respec= game feels pointless/trivialized. Choices seem pointless. less replayability. You get to the “i conquered this game” feeling too quickly.
One character shouldn’t be a master of all. The idea should be to have a diverse array of content that requires different builds/different strengths and building for those should generate weaknesses in your character.
A character building for pvp should suffer in their ability to PvE because they’ve made it a priority to go for stuns,hp,mobility they have probably sacrificed defensive skills.
With the game having a trading system, certain items should come from certain areas of a game, extreme dungeons should offer different rewards. Like the shaper gear from PoE or pvp exclusive gear ect. The idea that you limit what a single character is able to do without leveling a new character helps control the market of those items/rewards.
If one character can freely respec at no cost and we’re not just taking about gold, your also taking about time means that the market will be flooded without any sort of limiter.
Granted this hinges of blizzard actually designing a worthwhile gear farm at end game. But a game should always have a cost to the player in order to limit saturation in the economy. The choice should be do I spend a crap load of money to get this now, or do I invest time to level up a alt to do this.
nah i was replying to another guy. if it tagged you i dunno why, these forums are goofy. same outsourced garbage they have on the new world/lost ark forums over at AGS
Meh, I can understand the decision because it adds weight to your decisions. Poe is notorious for this but it makes you care and plan your builds instead of just willy nilly going through. It sucks at times but I like it.
I would say that it would be cool if you could collect an item or something that helps repsecing though.
Then again, The way paragon is set up it might ruin the game
Yes, this is the typical D2 mentality.
3 respect for whole game, make sorc to finish game and farm items.
Make char based on found items.
Make pala to do ubers.
etc.
You want 25 y/o design into a modern game.
That is stupid.
You shouldn’t make 5 barbarians, each focused on different thing.
And here were are again.
You shouldn’t be forced to make 3x the same barbarian, just for you to enjoy PVE, PVP or farming.
That is stupid.
but as far as we know, the game doesn’t have a trading system.
Or better said, you can only trade common, magic, rare items, gold, gems and elixiers. None of those are a thing that makes your character OP or change the way it is played.
As all the things that would matter, like legendaries, aspects, unique, enchanted, etc CANNOT be traded.
And again, what market are you talking about?
There wont be any market.
People will mostly ignore random yellows that are dropping like rain droplets during a storm.
Also possible market and trading is absolutely irrelevant to respecing…
once again, there is no trading outside of useless things, so there wont be a huge economy.
And even if it were, it wont be “solved” with high respec cost, as that is irrelevant to the economy.
Would be REALLY handy if there was some kind of indication on the piece to show whether you already have the transmog or not, then I know what to salvage and what to sell when I need gold.
