My S7 review 😂

State of the Sorcerer: 5/10.
It’s bad. The score is not lower because lightning spear and fireball builds are still playable and perform slightly better than last time. Shatter can still be used to progress in the Pit but it’s gimmicky and no one likes it. The attempt to make ball lightning a viable build with the new uniques was an abyssal failure.

Seasonal Powers: ?
No comment. This season has seasonal powers and that’s about it. I think they give a bit of a multiplicative damage boost but I haven’t noticed any interesting interactions or the potential for new builds.

Seasonal Journey: 7/10.
It’s a massive grind but at least it’s not time-gated like it was last time with world boss timers. It was a bad idea to put Helltide seasonal objectives in a season where doing Helltides is pointless because Headhunts are better.

Seasonal Rewards: 10/10.
Probably the best battle pass rewards we’ve had thus far.

Headhunts: 8/10.
It’s a good seasonal feature. Much better than Realmwalkers but not as interesting as Infernal Hordes. The only thing that I didn’t like is that you have to AFK for several minutes while waiting for the boss mob to spawn. Doing nothing while waiting for something to happen is bad gameplay.

Rootholds: ?
Same as seasonal powers. They are there but they don’t do much. I think I did 2 or 3. Blizzard, if you want to add a new dungeon type to a season, it has to be repeatable like the trap vaults from S3. Otherwise it’s pointless.

Seasonal Story: 5/10.
The best part about it was that it was short. I don’t know what’s the point of doing these side quests if they don’t advance the main story of the game. Does anyone still remember Cormond or Erys? I hope we get to chop down the damn tree in an expansion.

Overall: 6/10.
The Season of Witchcraft doesn’t really add much. It would be fine if the base game was feature-complete, but it’s still not. There is no real endgame to speak of.
Blizzard, if you are going to release a season, you have to either add a new endgame challenge to keep the game interesting after completing the seasonal journey and the battle pass, or rework some features of the base game. Just replaying the game again is boring.

I would definitely pay to mulch the damn tree.

I was expecting a 1 or a 2, not a 5.

Your median would actually be a 7/10 based on your scores for everything else.

I give you a 9/10 for constructive feedback though. :+1:

I think it is a phenomenom how people rate stuff. I see so many games that get torn apart in reviews yet they allwaysland on a 7/10 or even 8/10.

If a game has 7/10 it is already considered bad, but 7/10 is not realy a bad rating if you think about it.

I am also amazed that people often make a Positiv conclusion out of a bunch of bad things.

See he concluded 6/10 for the season, or 7/10 as a median. But in words he sums up;

The seaon does not add much new, the base game is still lacking, there is no real endgame. He even says the game is boring.

So how does this (boring, lacking endgame, barely new stuff, base game still lacking)

conclude in a 6 or 7/10? the words do not match the numbers. And i do not blame the author, this is a general thing i see in the mainstream and jounalism.

People sum up so many downsided and then conclude a positiv outcome. It realy bothers me what is going wrong here.

If something is “BORING” that is already a heavy hit. Like you can barely get worse as a game then beeing boring. The next level of downside would be physicla pain inflicting or so. Like what worse then beeing boring can you achieve as a game?

Thanks for letting us know your thoughts on S7

This season didn’t make the game worse so that’s already enough to rate it as 5/10. It’s playable so 6/10.

IMO play it if you find it fun, leave if you do not.
There are other games out there if D4 does not appeal to you.

But I have been a long time diablo series fan and I will continue playing it.

Perhaps I’m part of the minority. But PoE style gameplay did not appeal to me.
Have tried PoE1 when it was still new and completed the whole game.
Never got me hooked like Diablo.

Just hope that D4 does not end up as a diablo skinned PoE or I’d leave too.
If I wanted a PoE style game, I would have played PoE.

Anyway, other then class balance, never had much issues/problems with D4 even from the start in open beta.

They should have had Elias be the final boss of the seasonal story. Ha ha! You face me AGAIN! (For the 27th time).

Petiion to chop down the tree in the next expansion.

7/10 for me.

The Rot and Favor grind is getting boring.

You’re asking wayyyyy too much from this D4 team.

It would have been nice if headhunts had a more visible timer.

I agree except for the witchcraft powers: they can be very useful for certain builds, they add more power, especially auras, like poison aura if you do a poisoner, or the slow aura that can be great too for those who got some slow stuff (also you can use both at same time).

Season 7 is enjoying, but there are some things I dont like. I didnt play much in season 6 so I am surprised how hard it is unlock tiers which it means they have killed casual. Gelena Jeweler is pretty fail system coz it is insane how much materials you need and it feels like they used system from World of Warcraft. It is absolutely excessive so please nerf numbers of materials. I cant imagine to farm for days to get 1 gem so you have to be kidding me. They need to rethink about it!

My ratings:

State of Sorc: 1/10. sorc has never been worse. Our passives gutted. Firebolt enchant heals now . We hit like a wet noodles just really fast! Enchants worse than druid boons and they get 5 and us 2. Uniques from feature BL build fighting over each other in focus slot. Mandatory defense skills or you die from enemy sniffles. Sorc is awful just awful.

Season Powers: 5/10. This could have been an easy 8 or higher because they are cool but as usual they are Buggy AF again. One example is lament doesnt work with coven even though it slows and so is a CC.

Seasonal Journey. 3/10. Mandatory Citadel? No thx. Helltide objectives. Ew. I dint get a single upgrade from this trash. Only thing good are mats.

Seasonal Rewards. 9/10. I did like the battlepass cosmetics and portals.

Headhunts. 7/10. Rating a bit lower than you because the chance to happen is too low on lower tiers making casuals struggle a bit.

Rootholds. 2/10. What is the purpose? The new zone you have tons of other players finding headhunts for you. These should have a been a dungeon mix as well so you get obdulcite and rotten parts as they dont drop a ton.

Seasonal Story. -/10. Dint even pay attention to this.

Overall. 5/10. Too buggy. Rootholds are a miss. Sorc sucks. Par for the coarse.

I kinda like the Fire Bats & wish I could keep them when the season ends, but they’re just another borrowed power. I really don’t care about the rest. I tried the season to see if I would like it, but I quickly discovered I don’t, so it’s back to the Eternal server.

Overall: 3/10 strictly for me, won’t argue about it.

This (witchcraft spells being buggy/uninteresting). And i didnt even know each spell had to be upgraded. Ugh more grinds.

And Citadel is a seasonal chapter requirement? Fook i dont do group stuff but i want the damn raven pet!

And i want to apologize to Sorcerer players this season. It seems Blizzard just doesnt know how to balance a damn game. WoW suffers the same crap with balance since the beginning. So dont get your hopes up about them ever getting it right.

Everything after hitting torment 4 feels pointless.

The game is still just built around endlessly chucking stones in an altar praying to see a purple beam.

Then this is made worse by the fact that mystics drop more often then the legendary runes.

If this was your first or second diablo 4;season it’s probs an 8/10 but, as a season if you have experienced other seasons I’d give it a 5/10. D3.5 with more steps

`
Is it? Why are they so insistent that we do this groups? I’m an Eve Online player and I love grouping up for skirmishes or fleets but sometimes you need a break from other people and D4 was my online escape.

I didn’t even bother completing Chapter 5 and uninstalled. As much as the Witchcraft powers were interesting, the rest remained the same; tedious and boring. I agree with your overall score (5/10). Hopefully Season 8 will be better than this one. On a personal note, I am really angry at myself to have purchased the season pass for just one and a half weeks of gameplay.

I wish I could give it more but, it’s the same loop we have had over and over.

I learned awhile ago with Poe, never but a supporter pack or season pass until you were happy with the season for at least 3 weeks!

Let the new season hype die first before deciding if you want to fund them some more.

When you buy it’s telling them you’re happy with the state of the game!
