My Dark Citadel experience with randoms using group finder

was not good. I tried to find a few groups and joined for some DC run to see how it is finally. First I want to point out that there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of groups out there in the group finder for DC, or in general actually. People are either not doing it or only doing it with friends on their list and not with randoms, which kind of kills the whole purpose of a group finder…

Secondly, out of the many tries I experienced , I was able to clear 1 wing out of the 3. And that experience was hilarious. In what way you ask ? well, it essentially was a solo experience except you are grouped with randoms LOL. Everyone was just running around the darn place doing their own things and no one even say a word in chat LOL.

I think at this point - I firmly believe that this content is still salvageable if you just make it solo-able. More people will likely engage with it on their own pace and be happy with it.

Or you can keep it the way it is and only serves a piece of content to be engaged by people who play with real life friends or whoever they have on their friend list , clan whatnot… which I would assume is a smaller percentage of players compare to the whole D4 population.

Oh I forgot to mention, the other times when I tried to join DC in randoms using the finder - was complete failure, joined and everyone is just again doing their own things and no one say a word and you join in middle of something but has no idea what is there to do next…

ye, not a good experience for anyone trying to use the finder for this piece of content.

There is no group in raid finder if you are not in Torment 4, try to get some people with knowledge about mechanics of all 3 wings, these wings are terribly easy and boring to do.

I am in torment 4 lol… the point being there is very few groups listing with randoms to do DC also when you do join someone no one talks … it is essentially solo mode but in group

Well most people who are still running Dark Citadel is for farming cosmetics, they target farm 1 wings or 1 mini boss and repeat… you can still try to find groups on Discord sanctuary if you don’t find what you want on group finder.

btw just cheked for Dark Citadel in party finder, there is like 8 groups atm not even half filled

Dark Citadel should either be scrapped, or changed so solo players can complete it.

Forcing people to run Dark Citadel for mats to unbrick gear because of a ill conceived tempering system is asinine in the first place, and forcing people to group spits directly in the face of gamers who don’t want to group up in the first place. It’s no wonder there are so many youtubers calling D4 dead.

cool but that still does not address when you join a random grp it is never fresh everyone is still running around doing their own things essentially solo mode again,… and you has 0 clue what is your group doing and neither does your grp know what you are doing. When you type some no one replies LOL

Just make it solo-able and everyone is happy. Ppl can still grp if they want or solo players can just go in and do it

It would not be the DC anymore then. Might as well make new, different content for solo only.

Also, your experiences have not been mine for the most part.

Nothing is ever solo only in this game. Literally every game mode can be played either solo or group. DC is the only content that is hard limited to group only.

And that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with group-only content especially when it has no exclusive power locked behind it.

sure, but would be nice though to not have such limit right ? why would you want to limit anything when having it solo able like everything else opens it up to options for people

False. You get scrolls easier and faster from infernal hordes.

I concur. The DC does not require grouping because it is harder, more strategic or tactical but only because you have to stand on silly spot at the same time as someone else. Everything else can be cleared by anyone and that is why people just fan out and do their thing and only wait for the forced gating.

I’ve not had a single one drop from running infernal hordes. I must suffer just as bad RNG as I do tempering.

I always get two scrolls from Infernal Hordes. I have like 100+ in my chest already and can only use one per items. Kinda crazy that temper system still is.

You can’t make DC soloable and it shouldn’t. People asked for group content. Don’t play it if you don’t like it and complain about the missing cosmetics instead. Maybe you get an solo alternative to DC.

at what torment ? I have to agree with others here the scroll of restoration actually drops a lot in Inferno Horde. You always get 1 or 2 from the 200 Aether chest… I have like over 30 of them lol…

I’m switching between T1 and T2 as I tweak my build.

maybe that is why, try to do it on T3 or T4, it is guarantee 1 or 2 scrolls each time you open the 200 Aether chest

It’s possible… I’ll keep plugging away at hordes, but I’m pretty much done with DC. I’ve already unlocked the cosmetics from DC, which I’ll never use.

I think its a failed experiment. Nobody is doing it to such a degree they are trying to get ppl to do it with community events. Its like PVP in that its there and nobody cares.
