We spend a lot of time building out our characters, finding gear, and leveling up all our stuff - only for none of it to matter when we get transformed and all our skills replaced.
This was the same reason they removed conduit shrines, but now the same idea is back as a seasonal mechanic.
As an aside, also, what is up with the D4 team’s butcher idolization? Yes a lot of us have memories of him scaring us in Diablo 1 as children - but to me he was just a memorable boss not some kind of fan favorite character. I highly doubt playing as the character was really high on anyone’s wish list for a diablo game.
I just feel like throughout the length of this game they’ve paraded the butcher around like he’s some celebrity we’re supposed to get excited about - when I feel like he’s practically at the point now of a “Say the line, Bart” washed up catchphrase machine.

They are totally out of ideas at this point and bringing back a memory from the past is their final solution. Im not playing s12 - just not interested - hope 13 is better.

not sure why people stick to this thing so hard. Except for the short season campaign, you can literally just not become the butcher and you dont even suffer a penalty.

Conduit shrines had not the problem with replaced skills.
People cried because they did not trillions of damage during this phase.
For higher tiers, the damage was indeed not enough for (effectivly) killing stuff.
Nobody cried about the immune phase.
As butcher, you can kill everything.
For a month long season, it is funny for some (including me) to kill heroes and get a little revenge for all the one shots the buthcer had to endure during the last seasons.
Also, this season mechanic is skippable. No need to use the Slaughterhouse.
Why can’t people live with it? Hopefully their lifes have a meaning outside of the power fantasy of the Diablo franchise.

They’re going all in on Butcher nostalgia. The butcher showing on occasion in a dungeon unexpected is cool. The butcher being everywhere all the time is annoying saturation and will likely kill the nostalgia factor for the character.
Apparently no one at blizzard ever heard the phrase “less is more”

I disagree. It’s not just “A Butcher”, it’s a full new temporary class with 6 skills, nicely animated and sounded. Honestly there’s good work there, it’s fluid, his running animation is even better than others classes running animations
And it’s quite fun too.
And you can play it like 60 seconds, it’s not the end of your character.

agreed. Its not groundbreaking really, but its a fun little side quest really

I’m at the point on T4 now where half the time he can’t compete the phrase “Fresh meat” before he explodes in a pile of goo. Thanks for the free mats I guess.
How else do you collect the fresh meat currency? And even if there is another source, the best way to farm it is by becoming the butcher in helltide, to my knowledge. Not to mention it’s pretty much required to transform into the butcher for the season journey. There’s literally no way to avoid it unless you play on the Eternal realm.
By far the worst season, and I stick by my original stance, they should’ve just extended season 11 with some extra bug fixes mid season.

since im t4, i dont use the butcher anymore at all. Currently im sitting at 80k fresh meat.
the season rep boxes drop tons of them. Also theres bloodied gear with a chance to drop fresh meat. Also, a greater stay fresh meat whisper box.
its really not a currency you need to worry about.

huh guess it’s for the season journey cause I was sure some people here said the bloodied items suck and that’s what the fresh meat is for really.
I don’t know seems the no one can agree on anything for this season. Just constant complaints(not including the bug issues those do need to be fixed)
Edit- Well there one thing solved. Guess some people can’t say anything about playing the butcher now huh? assuming that they finished the season task that require it)

Ok, well I guess I’ll keep playing. I haven’t gotten that far yet.

yea dont worry about it. Infact, im a little annoyed now that im spending 80ish k fresh meat lol. Thats going to be a 20 mins of me teleporting back and forth haha
treat it like obols really. a nice side thing to gamble on. nothing important.
These temporary transition states work well in games because you get little glimpses of god like power.
The problem D4 has with these states is you’re already at that level of power.
this game has had a problem from day 1 where its sense of melee impact mechanism is very weak or even non-existent.
it just feels like a sloppy job of overlapping two layers of 2-D pixels and registering it as a ‘hit’ without putting much impact sense, totally opposite as in D2/R although the game is 2D, the devs has putting great effort to make this realistic.
this reduces the realistic part of playing a melee class.
Conduit shrines were removed because somehow Blizzard couldn’t math them out to gain power from all your sources of it so after a certain point they were a nerf to use.
Anyone who actually can’t stand not having their skills for 60 sixty seconds needs to chill.
(Weird thing is it worked fine in D3 but it’s the one thing they decided not to copy.)
