I purchased Early access and had a lvl 45 Sorc and 33 Rogue. After linking my Xbox account to Battlenet (to participate in the twitch promotion), my characters were deleted and various attempts to reboot my system didn’t resolve the issue.
I’ve seen this issue appear on various forums (mostly from PSN players), but the issue seems to impact all consoles players when they link Battlenet.
I haven’t created a new character yet (so I don’t know if I am missing cosmetic items) b/c I fear it will just make this issue worse.
When you started EA, Blizzard had already assigned your account to an email. When you linked your account to Battlenet, it is using a new email which is also a new Battlenet ID. Blizzard has made the mistake of tying our characters to a Battlenet ID and not our Live/PSN accounts. So when everyone started linking to get Twitch drops, it moved everyone to a new account that doesn’t have our characters or bonus items.
Yah many of us have same issue I’m playing on Xbox and created battle.net account and then my 2 characters gone one was 50 necro. Sure hope they fix this soon.
2 quick stories to hope to shed some light as this happened to me on PS5 after wanting the twitch rewards. I never would have thought I created a new battle.net account to play Diablo 4 beta but I did. I used an email I haven’t used in a long long time. A friend of mine also wanted the twitch rewards and “lost his characters” after linking his battle.net account. He found out his wife pre-loaded the beta patch for him and she created a battle.net account so he can come home from work and just play. This might not help everyone but think about what you did that day to play the beta. Ask family, friends, children whatever it takes. We get way ahead of ourselves sometimes when we are excited and just want to get into a game. I hope this gets resolved for everyone soon.
Wish i knew what battlenet account it had linked it too, i have no idea ive only ever had one battlenet account that i am aware of. Unless the kids have made one behind my back
